Chapter 27

Author's POV…

Tears won't stop flowing out from Jolene' mother's eyes, she was sitting beside Jolene on her bed.

Jolene laid unconscious on the bed, her body was cold but she was also sweating at the same time which was so weird.

Her breathing was so faint and her mother feared she might lose her.

Harrison was standing beside the bed Jolene was laid on, he was in deep thought.

He kept on pondering on who could have poisoned Jolene, though she was kind of tough, she was nice to almost everyone in the pack.

He sees no reason why anyone should hate on her to the extent of poisoning her with a deadly drug.

"Is it one of the servants? Hell no!"

He thought and took a deep breath, Strychnine is a rare poison and is hard to find, it's mostly found in the human world.

How come Jolene got poisoned with it?

Deep down, he is really scared and prays nothing happens to Jolene, not when he hasn't confessed his feelings for her.

His wolf keeps on suspecting Paulene but he doubts if she can go to that extent.

She might hate Jolene but won't poison with Strychnine.

It's probably one of the maids who must have tampered with her meal.

Jolene's father already summoned all the guards and servants, he threatened to imprison and torture them all if no one admits to be Jolene's poisoner.

Harrison glanced at Jolene for the hundred times and sighed sadly, it hurt him to see Jolene in this state.

He wishes he could just find the antidote, she has just forty-seven hours more, thinking about that troubles him greatly.

"Could it be Paulene?" He asked himself and began recalling on the numerous occasions Paulene had tried to kill Jolene.

"If she could stab Jolene twice, then she can as well poison her." His wolf said and he immediately rushed out of Jolene's room.

He just needs to confirm from her, he hopes his instincts are wrong because if it turns out to be the opposite, he is going to squeeze life out of Paulene.

He got into her room and barged in, almost pulling down the door.

He met her already in her nightie sipping a cup of coffee.

"You should take it easy! Why are you here?" She queried standing up from her bed.

Harrison closed the door behind him and spoke up.

"Are you aware of what happened to your sister?"

"Yes, why are you asking?" Paulene replied feeling less concerned.

Harrison wasn't shocked or surprised, he expected this reaction from her.

"Jolene was f*****g poisoned and there's low chance of survival but here you are, feeling less concerned. Do you even have a heart at all?"

Paulene touched her chest and then took another sip from the hot coffee.

"Do I have a heart? I don't know, maybe you should come check for me but I only have a heart that beats for you." She whispered and suddenly smiled.

Harrison banged the desk nearby, how can she be joking and smiling at the period.

Now he is beginning to suspect that she poisoned Paulene.

"I wonder what kind of a wolf you are, staying in the human world turned you into a total beast." He cussed but she smiled instead.

"I sincerely don't know why you're so worked up, I am just waiting patiently for the news of Jolene's death." Paulene said and smiled evilly.

Harrison picked the flower vase on the desk and smashed it angrily, the latter only released a derisive laughter.

"Why did you do it? Why did you poison Jolene? How could you be this heartless?" Harrison yelled and Paulene smiled.

Now he has gotten his answer,

"Keep your voice down, you're making too much noise. You all celebrated after she won the challenge but never knew you were all going to cry at the end. That knife was actually poisoned by me, I planned it all out, I knew I was never going to win the challenge so I had to challenge her so I could use the opportunity to carry out my mission. Isn't that so wise of me? C'mon, you should commend me of my smartness." Paulene said and laughed again.

Harrison couldn't believe his ears, so he was right? The most annoying part was her level of her boldness, she isn't even hiding her evil act.

"Why are you telling me this? Aren't you afraid of everyone finding out that you poisoned your sister? You know what would happen to you if your parents found out?"

"No one is going to find out because you're going to keep your mouth shut. No one would believe you if you tell them I poisoned Jolene, you know I am good at acting. You will just end up putting yourself into trouble if you sat a word,"

Harrison balled his fist and stared hatefully at the devil in front of him.

She was right, no one would believe him if he told them the truth, Paulene is going to deny and deceive everyone with fake tears.

He just has to be wise and handle things gently with Paulene.

"So would you be happy if she dies?"

"I would be the happiest if that happens, I would get the Lycan king position and also have you back." She winked and Harrison felt like slapping the hell out of her.

He had to hold himself back from doing that so he wouldn't ruin things.

"Jolene is your sister, you shouldn't allow her to die like that, she has just forty-six hours to live if the antidote is not found. I know you have it, just do me a huge favor by giving me the antidote, please Paulene" Harrison pleaded trying to get on her soft side.

He hated himself for doing this but he had no choice, he is ready to do anything to save Jolene.

"I don't have it!" She snapped and suddenly backed him.

Harrison sighed and then closed up the space between them, he hugged her from behind and began a slow caress.

"For my sake, just give me the antidote., I promise to do anything to ask."

Paulene smiled and suddenly faced him, she then hung her hands on his shoulders.

"You said anything?" She asks to be sure and Harrison hesitates before giving a positive nod.

She took one of his hands and place them on her boobs,

"Lie with me, make love to me, make me feel like a woman and I promise to give you the antidote." Paulene requested and Harrison pushed her off immediately.

"You must be out of your mind!"
