Chapter 31

Jolene's POV….

As soon as I opened my eyes, I felt like I had just woken up from a long sleep.

The way Harrison screamed and hugged me got me wondering the reason why he was so I've joyed.

"I know you will survive it, thanks for coming back." He hugged me tightly.

What does he mean by 'thanks for coming back? Did I go anywhere?

I broke the hug and looked at him with a big question mark on my face. I need an explanation from him.

"What happened?"

"You don't remember how you fell unconscious?" He asked and I looked at him with a puzzled look.

I thought deeply and tried recalling what happened to me and like boom! I suddenly began recalling everything in a rush.

How I was bleeding from my nose, my head was spinning and then everything around me slowly became blurry. After that I fell unconscious,

"I do! Yes I do, what happened?" I queried , checking if there was any trace of blood on my nose.

I checked myself and noticed I was perfectly fine.

"You were poisoned," Harrison suddenly revealed and I looked at him swiftly.

"Poisoned? How? By who?" I asked, feeling so shocked.

Who dated poison me? Who could have poisoned me? I made sure I treated everyone around me equally, I wasn't unjust in my doings and tried being by everyone.

"You got poisoned with Strychnine, you have been unconscious for forty-five hours. Everyone thinks you're going to die in three hours time since the antidote hasn't been found." Harrison explained but I was still confused.

"Tell me everything, make things clear to me."

"Paulene actually poisoned you with a Strychnine and threw the antidote inside a stream, without the antidote, you won't be able to survive it."

"What!" I gasped as I covered my mouth in shock.

I couldn't believe it, so Paulene wants me dead so badly.

"How the heck did you know that?" I yelled and he signaled for me to keep my voice down.

"She told me herself and I suspected het too, she admitted without any feeling of remorse. she got you poisoned through the knife she stabbed you with, it was already poisoned before she used it on you. I asked her for the antidote and she gave me a condition before I could do the antidote, she asked me to have s*x with her."

Harrison confessed and I couldn't close my mouth in shock, is Paulene this heartless?

No one should tell me Harrison slept with her just to get the antidote.

"Did you sleep with her?" I asked, studying him close and he gulped.

I guess he did, I can't believe he went through all of that because of me.

"No I didn't, even though I almost did."

He didn't? Then how come I woke up because I was also aware that Strychnine is a deadly poison.

"Zelda, one of the members of our kingdom, came a few minutes ago and gave me this. She told me she found it by the stream while fetching water, I thought she actually fooled me not until you woke up."

I think I owe Zelda my life, I don't really know who she is but I sincerely need to appreciate her.

I would have died if she hadn't found the antidote, I can't still believe Paulene actually poisoned me, it's just unbelievable.

"Thank you so much Harrison for not leaving my side." I appreciated and hugged him again, he smiled wildly.

"All thanks to Zelda, it just looks as if the moon goddess sent her."

"I really need to see and reward Zelda, she is just wonderful. I am still finding it hard to believe what you just said about Paulene, like how could she?" I asked in a cracked voice as water gathered in my eyes.

I was really hurt and never expected her to do this to me even though she hates me with passion.

She went too far by poisoning me and then throwing the antidote of the poison into the stream, that's so wicked and heartless of her.

I would never do that to her even if a gun was placed on my head.

"She isn't worth your tears, Jolene. I am just glad that you woke up, your mother was locked up because of you."

"What! Why?" I yelled.

"Because she couldn't control herself, she literally lost her mind and won't stop crying. She didn't leave your side for a second not until this morning, she was sedated and locked up so she wouldn't hurt herself."

I sighed and face palmed, my mother must have felt so devastated.

"Paulene saw her mother in that state and still didn't have a change of mind?"

"Yes, the most annoying part is that she was the one who cried the most, everyone was surprised and began to soften their hearts towards her."

I folded my fist angrily, Paulene is a real devil, she is stone-hearted, wicked, heartless, atrocious, evil, shameless, worthless, just name it!

"I need to see my mother first," I said and stood up but Harrison forcefully made me sit.

"No one is aware that you're conscious and your mother would be asleep by now. I think your father ordered a general meeting at the pack square so everyone must have gone there. You need to go there and show them that you're alive," Harrison suggested and I took a deep breath.

I am so lucky to have a trustworthy and faithful beta like Harrison, he is literally the best.

I stood on my feet and went straight to my bathroom, I must stink badly having not had a bath for days.

"Just call my attention when we are done," Harrison said and excused me.

I stood under the shower and made the water temperature very warm.

As the water streamed down my skin, I felt like I was finally having mh bath after not having one for ages.

I loosed my hair and washed it thoroughly, in less than ten minutes, I was done.

I stepped out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around my head and also my chest.

I dried my body, hair and did the necessity before moving to my wardrobe.

I picked a long body hugged red gown and wore it immediately.

I looked at my reflection in the mirror and smiled, the gown hugged my sexy body perfectly revealing my figure eight shape.

I brushed my hair till it was smooth and silky, I then rolled my hair into a messy bun.

I used red lipstick and smirked. I dressed like I was going to a ceremony.

I used red heels and smiled satisfactorily.

"Harrison, we are good to go." I called and he came in immediately.

"Oh my goodness!" He gasped in awe and I smiled.

"You literally dressed to kill,"

"I want my enemy to be so shocked to the extent that she is gonna faint." I replied and led the way out of my room.

I don't give a damn about Paulene anymore, if she can do this to me, then I won't consider as my sister anymore.

I quit trying to make things work out between us, I quit trying to make sure we have a good relationship. She doesn't deserve to have me as a sister, I detest her now just like the way she detest me.

I am never ever going to soften on her, I will make sure she pays for attempting to kill her king.
