Chapter 40

Jolene's POV…

I was shocked to see Paulene strangling Zelda, when did she get here?

"What the heck is happening here?" I thundered and Paulene immediately let go of Zelda.

The latter began coughing out loudly, there were red marks on her neck indicating how hard Paulenes6 grip was.

"What are you doing here, Paulene?" I screamed glaring at her dangerously.

She flinched and immediately jumped up on her feet, Harrison immediately rushed to Zelda to check if she was alright.

"It's not like that, she insulted me first, she accused me wrongly." Paulene protested and I smirked.

I closed up the space between us and stared at her eyeball to eyeball, she looked away immediately.

"Were you trying to kill her because you were so pissed that she saved my life?" I asked and she gulped.

"Are you going to believe that twerp over me?" She yelled and I immediately grabbed her hair roughly.

"Ouch! What are you doing?" She tried to forcefully release her hair from my strong hold but I wasn't ready to let go.

"Shut your mouth up! We made a deal but you're already crossing the line already. Now let me make this clear to you, I don't want to ever see you around Zelda, if you go close to her or try to hurt her, your little secret will be aired out. And not only that, I am going to make sure I deal perfectly with you. Shameless thing!" I remarked and pushed her roughly on the floor.

She immediately stood and stared at me angrily,

"I am trying to hold back Jolene, I am trying to do as you say but you keep pushing me to the wall and making me do things I don't want to do. Yeah, I know I did something stupid and bad but that doesn't mean you should treat me like a slave or a servant. I hope I can't put up with your fucken deal for long!" She spat and stormed out angrily.

"The most annoying thing is that she isn't feeling ashamed of her evil deed, she isn't feeling remorseful. She still has the guts to attack Zelda and also talk back at you, she is so bold." Harrison muttered and I sighed.

Paulene doesn't look like someone who is going to change, she is just holding back because of my threat.

Maybe I should tell the truth to everyone, she deserves to be punished but there won't be any fun in doing that.

"Zelda, are you okay? Did she threaten you or say something absurd?" I queried sitting beside her on the bed.

"She was just angry I found the antidote, she is your sister right?"

"My twin actually,"

"I think she was the one who poisoned you," she whispered and I chuckled.

"Of course I know," I replied and she gasped.

"How can you know that and still allow her to yap about?"

"I have a reason for that,"

** Two week later **

~~ At night, 8:39pm ~~

"I have told you times without number that you shouldn't allow Paulene to maltreat you, you shouldn't obey her foolish command. You're my personal maid and are only expected to work for me only!" I yelled at Zelda and she immediately fell on her feet.

Oh my goodness, there she goes again!

"You should stop acting and treating me like a god, we are friends for crying out." I muttered pulling her up and she sighed.

I checked her cheeks and saw a slap mark, I grew annoyed.

"Gosh! I need to teach that b***h a lesson, how dare her!" I yelled and Zelda suddenly grabbed my hands.

"Please, just let it go, I am okay with it, her slaps aren't even painful." She smiled and I hissed.

It's been two weeks since Zelda became my personal maid and everything has been going on smoothly except for Paulene's attitude.

I have forgiven her for poisoning me and have stopped threatening her, I didn't say a word to anybody about what she did to me.

But I won't just be soft on her, if she causes any misconduct, I am going to punish her like it's been done.

I quit trying to make things work between us, I would just allow her to live the life she wants but won't condone her misconduct.

Paulene never ceased bullying and mistreating Zelda at my back, Zelda keeps everything to herself simply because she doesn't want any quarrel or fights between us.

I just found out that Paulene slapped Zelda and also made her do some chores.

"But why are you allowing her to do this to you? You should stop keeping things from me,"

"Let's stop talking about her and drink, I am glad I have a comfortable place to lay my head on so if this is this sacrifice I have to make, then I am okay with it." She faked a smile as she poured me wine.

"You have to promise that you won't allow her bully or maltreat you anymore,"

"I am a maid so what do you expect? Don't worry, I will be fine." She assured me and I sighed.

We were both at the lobby and were about to have our night drink as usual.

I am glad to have her back in my life, these two weeks that passed made us draw closer.

She is now like a sister to me, pretty much better than Paulene.

"So what are you up to?" Zelda asked as she stared at the sky.

"I am planning to visit Sharp Edges pack by next month," I announced and she suddenly choked.

"Easy girl," I muttered, rubbing her back slowly.

"Are you serious?" She asked with widened eyes and I nodded my head positively.

"What are you going there to do? You should remember they all mistreated you because you were weak even your mate rejected you and made you commit suicide." She reminded me and I smirked.

She knows everything because I told her my life story.

"Except my foster parents and brother, they were the only ones who were nice and treated me well. I miss them and also want to see them, I want to erase that memory of being dead. Also, I want to prove to the Sharp Edge pack that I am no longer the Jolene they have always known." I muttered and smirked darkly.

"There's no need for all of that,"

"And you're coming with me," I added and her eyes widened.

"What! Me?"

"Yes, you don't have to worry about anything, I gat you!" I smiled and she returned it.

We continued staring at the stars in the sky as silence ensued.

"A lot would have changed in sharp edges pack,"

"I know, right?"

"So you've abandoned me because you now have Zelda, it's not fair." Harrison complained and he came into the lobby and I chuckled.

"We are on women's talk so you don't need to be here," I teased and he scoffed.

"I envy you both, Zelda literally stole you away from me." He cried out and I laughed harder.

I noticed Zelda was mute, she was drumming slightly on her glass of wine and looked nervous, she was also stealing glances at Harrison.

My instincts keep telling me that she likes him because that's how she behaves anytime he is around.

Well, I would be glad if they ended up together.

Harrison suddenly grabbed my glass of wine and gulped down the whole content.

"That was rude," I rolled my eyes and he chuckled.

"Those twerps had been caught, they are currently cooling their feet at the prison."

"That's nice, I need to catch some sleep, you both can keep talking." I said and got out of the lobby.

"But I…" I interrupted him immediately.

"Enjoy yourselves!" I shouted and smirked.

I actually did that on purpose, I wanted them to have a nice time together.

I need to strategize on how I am going to visit the Sharp Edges pack.
