Chapter 48

** Two days later~ 8:45pm **

Jolene's POV…

"You summoned both I and your mother, is everything alright?" My father asked curiously and I smiled.

Both father and mother were sitting opposite me, I was the one who summoned them this night.

I have been so busy since morning that I didn't have the opportunity to speak with them.

"Obviously not," I replied, still laughing and my father sighed in relief.

"What of Paulene? Doesn't she needs to be here too?" My mother asked and I frowned immediately.

I had promised myself never to have anything to do with Paulene ever again, let her just mind her business while I mind mine.

I won't have her get involved with anything in my life.

"She is not needed here, I just want to talk to you both about something."

"What's that?" My father asked immediately and I cleared my throat.

I looked from mother and then to father before taking a deep breath, I hope they grant me their permission.

"I want to visit Sharp Edges pack, the pack I came from."

"What!" My father exclaimed standing up and I gulped.

I knew it would be hard for my dad to grant me his permission but I would try doing my best in making sure they reason with you.

"Is it not that same pack that mistreated you and lured you into committing suicide?" My mother yelled and I bit my lower lips.

Gosh! I knew they would get so mad,

"You both should try and understand me, I need to visit that pack so I can prove to them that I am no longer that weak girl that they have always known. I need to also wipe off that memory of being dead in their head, please father, grant me your permission." I pleaded with my head's down.

My father suddenly banged the desk near him and it broke immediately,

"Never! I won't allow you to go near that pack except they are going to see my wrath," My father swore with gritted teeth, he was obviously so infuriated.

"I second that, I won't allow you to go to a pack where their Alpha rejected you as his mate and said all manner of I'll words to you." My mother supported my father.

It would be so difficult to convince them, what do I do to make them reason with me?

"Go on your knees, parents hardly reject the request of their children when they go on their knees. It would make them see how desperate you are," My wolf suggested and I fell on my knees immediately.

Both of them gasped in shock,

"Paulene, what are you doing?" My mother rushed to me and bent beside me, she then made me look at her.

"You don't have to go back to prove anything, it's not necessary. How can you think of going back there after everything they did to you?" My mother asked worriedly, I didn't say a word to her and faced my father.

"Dad, please let me go, it would be a great opportunity to visit my foster parents who took me in when I was roaming about in the cold woods. They deserve to know I am alive and who I turned out to be, please father." I beseech my father but he turned his back on me.

"Father, are you…"

He suddenly interrupted me, " Only on one condition,"

One condition? That seems weird, what could be the condition? I hope it's something I can do,

"What condition father?" I asked calmly and he faced me.

"I and your mother must go with you, I can't rush leaving you in the hands of that evil and heartless pack."

I was flabbergasted, this is funny but it isn't actually funny.

"Father, I can take care of myself, you and mother don't have to come with me." I protested and my mother stood up.

"Yeah, I am in support of that." She said and I chuckled.

I wasn't expecting less from her, she would surely do as her husband says.

"It would serve as a great opportunity to also visit your foster parents and appreciate them for taking care of you since you were tender up to your teenage age." My father said and I sighed.

I have no choice but to accept, I am glad it isn't a difficult condition.

"Fine, you both would cab come with me." I agreed.

"Permission granted," My father said and I jumped on him immediately.

"Thank you father," I screamed and you chuckled.

"So, he is the only one getting a hug?" My mother said jealously and I hugged her too.

"So when do you plan to visit them?"

"By next month, I will inform you once I am ready." I replied excitedly and my father smiled.

"Go have some rest, you've done a lot today, you're really doing a good job in ensuring peace and order in your kingdom. I am so proud of you," My father complimented me with a pat on my shoulder.

My head got swollen with pride and I bowed respectfully to him.

"Thanks father, I will take my leave now. Have a goodnight," I bade and left his chambers immediately.

I feel so glad and anxious, can't wait to visit Sharp Edges pack, a lot would have changed.

I am close to fulfilling the promise I made to myself, I can't wait to see that shocked look on Maverick's face.

I would let him know that rejecting me was the biggest mistake of his life, he literally lost a treasure.

Who knows? He might have gotten married already and must be living happily, that happiness would disappear once I visit.

As I headed to my chambers, I decided to stop by Harrison's room and share the news with him.

I am pretty sure he was still awake, I saw him a few minutes ago before I went to speak with my parents.

I got to his room and barged in without knocking, I do forget to knock all the time.

I was astounded to see Harrison kissing Paulene, my eyes bulge out of its socket immediately.

They both disengaged immediately they saw me, I couldn't believe my eyes.

Paulene had this victorious smirk on her lips while Harrison was too shocked to speak.
