Chapter 25 Author's POV… "So what's that you want to discuss with me?" Harrison asked and Paulene smiled all of a sudden. "You should smile at least, it would make you look more handsome." She said sweetly and tried to touch his cheeks but he held her hands before they came in contact with his face and dropped them down. "What important discussion do you want to talk about? I would just leave if he keeps misbehaving," he warned and she sighed. "We can't discuss openly where all the servants and guards are, let's go to my room." She whispered and immediately interlocked their fingers. Harrison disengaged from her hold and stepped back immediately. "I should follow you to your room so you would r**e me right? I knew you had nothing to talk about, my Alpha needs me so f**k off." He spat and turned to leave. Paulene immediately closed up the space between them and unexpectedly hugged him from behind. "What the f**k are you doing? Let go of me!" He quietly warned but she smiled instead. "Stop talking about Jolene, hearing her name alone prickles my skin. It feels so warm hugging you like this," she muttered and pressed her body tighter on his. Harrison got pissed and pushed her away. "What kind of a person ads you? I was expecting you to go lock up yourself in your room and think about your life after you got out of that cell. But the opposite is happy, don't you feel remorseful for what you did to Jolene?" "Remorseful?" She called out as if she was just hearing the word for the first time. "Hell no! Jolene got what she deserved, she is so lucky to have survived." Psukene said and smiled mischievously. You see the reason why your sister will always be better in every aspect, she is a good lady with a good heart. I can't believe she still pleaded on your behalf after what you've done for me." "Let's stop talking about here, it annoys me." "I can't stand you any longer, you disgust me. Everyone should be afraid of you since you can hurt your own sister. Let this be the last time you would ever call me for your stupid discussion. Stay away from me and stop pestering my life." Harrison warned with a glare before leaving. Paulene watched him leave, this time around, she didn't run after him but only smiled. "He would run back to him once Jolene is taken care of. She must have started experiencing the symptoms, there's no way she is going to survive it." Paulene thought and laughed out loudly. *** Harrison knocked gently on Jolene's door but got no reply. He came to check if she was alright because he noticed she was looking so pale. "Are you in?" He asked but got no reply. "Maybe she already left but she told me she wanted to have a good rest." He thought and decided to go in. He pushed the door open and the first thing his eyes fell on was Jolene lying lifelessly on the floor with eyes wide opened. Harrison almost had a heart attack when he saw her in that state but he held himself. "Jolene! Jolene!" He screamed out her name but she didn't bulge, he got more scared when he saw blood. He rushed to her and fell on his knees. "Jolene! Jolene! What happened! Why are you like this? Did You get attacked by anyone?" He queried fearfully as she shook her body. He felt her body temperature and noticed it was unusually cold, there was a thin line of blood on her nostrils and blood streamed down from her mouth. He checked her heart rate and noticed she was breathing faintly. "Jolene, please wake up," he yelled, slapping her cheeks but her eyes closed instead. The door burst open revealing Jolene's mother, her legs weakened when she saw Jolene in blood. "What happened to her?" She screamed rushing to her immediately. "I don't know, I met her like this, I don't know what happened to her." "Get the pack doctor immediately, nothing must happen to my daughter!" She screamed and Harrison rushed out like a flash. "Jolene my baby, nothing must ever happen to you." She cried, hugging her to herself. She was actually coming from her husband's chambers to confirm if he really approved getting Paulene released, his answer was negative and he really got mad at Jolene. She had to beg on her behalf before he could calm down, so she checked on Jolene and met this. She checked if Jolene was injured in any part of her body, not even a scratch was her body which made her so baffled. Right now, she was really scared and hoped nothing ever happened to Jolene, her hands were shaking as tears fell uncontrollably. The pack doctor came in with Harrison and ordered everyone to leave, it was so hard before they were able to convince Jolene's mother to leave. The doctor dropped his medical equipment on the desk nearby, he laid Jolene on the bed and began treatment. ** Thirty minutes later ** Jolene's father, mother and Harrison couldn't rest as they kept tapping their feet on the floor. They were all in front of Jolene's door impatiently waiting for the doctor to come to give them feedback. Jolene's mother kept crying secretly, she just had a bad feeling about the whole thing. Paulene didn't show up even though she heard what happened to her sister, she was busy ordering the servants around and punishing them as she wished. After what feels like eternity, the doctor came out with a downcast look and the trio rushed to him. "How is my daughter?" "Hope she is fine?" "Hope nothing happened to her?" They threw questions to the doctor at the same time and he sighed. "Jolene was poisoned," he dropped the bombshell and the trio froze. "Poisoned?" They chorused at the same time. "It's even a dangerous and a rare poison, she was poisoned with a strychnine." They all gasped as their eyes widened. Harrison gulped so hard as his heart raced like crazy. "How the hell did she get poisoned with a strychnine? Who could have done this to her? Strychnine is only found in the human world!" "I was baffled too, it's rare and very hard to get an antidote, without an antidote, I am sorry, we are going to lose her." Jolene's mother fell on her butts and bursted into tears "She just has forty-eight hours to live if she isn't treated with the antidote." Jolene's father suddenly seized the doctor by the neck and growled loudly. "My daughter must not die, if not, I will squeeze life out of you." He threatened angrily as his eyes took a shade of red. "I…will…try…get…an…antidote." The doctor managed to say as he began joking. Jolene's father threw him roughly on the ground and breathed heavily. "Who dares poison my daughter!" He thundered as the whole building shook. TBC
