Chapter Ten: Into the Darkness
Amina struggled as they pushed her into the car, her heart racing wildly against her chest. The door slammed shut beside her, sealing her fate before she could even think of escaping.
“Let me go!” she cried, her voice shaking with fear.
No one answered.
The men sat in silence, their faces cold, as if her fear meant nothing to them. The car sped off, leaving behind the only life she knew.
Amina’s breathing became uneven. Her mind raced with thoughts of Daniel.
Where is he? Is he okay?
Tears rolled down her cheeks, but she wiped them away quickly. She refused to break—not now.
Minutes felt like hours as the car drove through unfamiliar roads, moving farther away from everything safe and known. Finally, the car slowed and came to a stop in front of a large, heavily guarded building.
Her heart dropped.
This place didn’t look like somewhere people walked out of freely.
The door opened.
“Get down,” one of the men ordered.
Amina hesitated.
A firm grip on her arm forced her out.
She stumbled slightly but quickly regained her balance, refusing to show weakness.
Inside, the building was quiet—too quiet. The kind of silence that carried secrets.
They led her down a long hallway until they stopped in front of a large door.
It opened.
And there he was.
Daniel.
Relief flooded her instantly. “Daniel!”
She rushed toward him, but stopped halfway when she saw his face.
He didn’t look relieved.
He looked… worried.
“Amina, why are you here?” he asked, his voice filled with tension.
“They brought me!” she said, her voice breaking. “I didn’t have a choice!”
Daniel turned sharply to the men. “I told you to leave her out of this!”
One of them smirked. “Plans change.”
Amina’s heart sank as she looked between them.
This wasn’t over.
It was just beginning.
