Chapter Three
Just a week after Juliet's medical, the position she applied for was finally declared as no longer available. The position was there since the day he got his job. It seemed like the job was meant for Juliet. That week he came across his old friend Daniel the one who had told him about Calvin's death. Daniel had met Calvin just before the day he died, and they had spoken for some time. Daniel had expressed concerns that Calvin was saying some people were trying to kill him. Calvin had hinted that he was refused work from the same company Brian was working for because he refused to undergo the medical. He had accused the owners as trying to kill him. He remembered that he himself had chosen to have the medical. Ok, he thought to himself anything suspicious about the medical? He started researching about the medical but could not find anything wrong with this, it was a well-known procedure in all medical books. He started to research about his company. The days he researched just days before he got the job, there was not any bad publicity. The company was part of a global network owned by the gazillionaire called JT, but he was as clean as a whistle he, protected presidents and ministers. Professor Anya after work went straight home, by 7 pm she was home, and JT had informed her that her apartment was broken into by a thief and can be repaired the same night or the following day. The professor knew who had broken into her apartment and she realized that it was safe to play it down otherwise they will start snooping around. Patrick was a perfect subject for her experiments. After spending time with that miracle baby, she had believed that human testing was safe and did not want to raise suspicion. She went home and waited for an hour just in case Patrick visited her. Her plan was to take a long bath and a glass of wine and sleep until tomorrow. She didn't want to wake up. 8pm still there was no sign of Patrick so she decided to take a long bath. She took a wine glass and a bottle of wine and went in the bathroom. She went into the tub and sipped wine and relaxed in the tub. At 8pm Patrick was released from the security and protection headquarters. He had his background checked and had his prints taken and his photo taken. He had refused but was told that to be released he was to give these as a condition of release. He wanted to see the professor badly, so he finally admitted and 8pm he was out. He left the headquarters and headed straight to the professor's apartment. The bedroom light was on as he arrived, she was home, and he was very happy, he didn't even knock at the door, he just opened the door through the broken glass on the door and went inside. He went straight to the bedroom, but she was not there he went downstairs and saw that the light in the bathroom was on.
"Professor, professor!" he shouted trying to open the door, but the door was locked. He knew she was inside as the door could only be locked from inside. He knocked the door but there was no answer.
"Professor, professor! Are you ok?" he screamed banging the door.
He knew something was not ok. He started banging the door louder and louder. The neighbors heard the noise and called the security and protection service. It took him about five minutes to finally break the door and he just couldn't believe what he saw.
She lay in the tub face down, quickly he rushed to her aide, but it was too late. He tried lifting her up, but all her skin fell off, it was horrendous, he looked in sheer disbelief. The woman he wanted was dead, in such a manner he could not explain, all his life he had never come across something like that. Literally she was cooked, all her skin was coming off, all his hands had her skin stuck on them. He felt disoriented he knelt next to her, he touched the water, but it wasn't that hot. So, what had happened? He realized that this was more than what it seemed, he got up quickly and decided to run. It took a few minutes to go downstairs and outside the apartment, and as the door closed behind him he felt a sharp pain in his head and a warm feeling of warm water running down his face. And that was the last thing he remembered.
