Pagkalabas ni Jenny sa site, halos sabay ring dumating si Jace mula sa kabilang area. May hawak siyang tablet at kakatawag lang sa mga engineers. Nakakunot ang noo, pagod pero alerto.
Nakita niya agad ang itsura ni Ariana.
Nanginginig. Namumula ang mata. Halatang galing sa tensyon.
“Ariana?” Jace approached slowly. “What happened? Why are you crying?”
Ariana looked at him with a mix of relief and desperation.
“Your… your Jenny happened.”
Napatigil si Jace.
“What about Jenny?”
“She insulted me,” Ariana burst out. “She humiliated me—right there, in front of your workers! Hindi mo ba nakita? Hindi mo ba narinig?”
“Ariana,” Jace said, tone instantly cooling, “what exactly did you say to her?”
“Why are you asking me that?” Ariana cried. “I’m the one who got attacked!”
