Red opened her eyes to the sound of constant tapping. It had filtered into her unconscious, making her dream of water dripping from an overturned cup. The details of her environment trickled into her mind. There was no water here. None that would be allowed to drip away and go to waste at least. Here such a precious commodity was jealously guarded. Red let her eyes adjust to the semi-darkness. She could feel the cold, hard metal beneath her back, the ache from time spent lying on it. Above her the low ceiling was painted with coloured lines; markers she knew, detailing the pipes and cables that ran above. She was still in the tunnels. Still in the realm of the King. She’d been shocked and left somewhere cold and unpleasant to sleep it off. Someone was going to pay dearly for that treat
