EPISODE 3:*A Desperate Alliance *

507 Words
We managed to slip out of the morgue undetected, but our freedom was short-lived. As we approached the gate, a security guard hailed us, his voice firm and authoritative. "Stop! Who's there?" I quickly assessed the situation and instructed the lady to lean against the gate, trying to appear nonchalant. I then walked towards the guard, intercepting him before he could get closer to us. "Mr. Vincent, aren't you on duty?" the guard asked, eyeing the lady suspiciously. I swiftly intervened, concocting a hasty explanation. "I'm just escorting this doctor to pick up something from her house." The guard raised an eyebrow but seemed to buy my story. "Okay, you're coming back, right?" I nodded hastily, relieved that the guard didn't press the issue further. Once we were clear of the morgue, I turned to the lady and asked, "Where should I take you?" Her response caught me off guard: "Your house." I was taken aback, protesting that she would put me in trouble. But she remained resolute, explaining that she needed a safe haven to investigate her own murder. She suspected her husband of poisoning her, and I found myself drawn into her desperate quest for truth. As I dropped her off at my house, I couldn't shake off the feeling of unease. I had to return to the morgue to avoid arousing suspicion, leaving her alone in my house. But my mind was already racing with the implications of her missing body. How would I explain the disappearance of a corpse from the morgue? The next morning, I returned to my house, anxious about what I might find. The lady was still in bed, her face etched with pain. The poison was still coursing through her veins, and she needed medical attention urgently. She begged me to call a doctor, but I hesitated, fearing that the doctor might recognize her. However, her condition was deteriorating rapidly, and I knew I had to act fast. I decided to call a doctor friend who didn't work at our hospital, hoping that he wouldn't know her. The doctor arrived promptly and administered treatment that seemed to stabilize her condition. As she began to recover, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over me. But as we sat there, waiting for her to regain her strength, I knew that our troubles were far from over. The missing body from the morgue would soon be discovered, and I would be the prime suspect. Our desperate alliance had just begun, and I had a feeling that our lives would never be the same again. As I looked at the lady, who was slowly regaining her strength, I realized that I had fallen for her. But our love was forbidden, and our situation was fraught with danger. We were about to embark on a perilous journey, one that would test our love, our loyalty, and our resolve to uncover the truth. Little did we know that the missing body from the morgue was just the beginning of our troubles...
