Moonbeams Pt. 2

1329 Words
Jamar I couldn’t believe myself. I had just told Amber that I was rejecting her. Gideon. I’m sorry. Please help me figure this out. Not only did you disrespect the Alpha of your pack, but you rejected your one and only mate. Bind me. Kill me. Take a potion. I no longer wish to be your spirit wolf. I didn’t even get a chance to respond before I felt the sting of my mom’s hand. “How f*****g dare you? Do you realize the magnitude of what you’ve just done? Not only did you disrespect the house of your pack, but you rejected the pack leader’s daughter in his face. Are you that selfish? This young lady was prepared to take you as her mate in spite of you breaking that bond by being with a w***e and this is how you thank her? I am ashamed of your behavior right now.” “Merrick.” Amber’s mom softly said. Her voice was barely above a whisper. I turned to see a wolf that was the color of snow. He was growling at me with his hackles up and teeth bared. “Lower your eyes Jamar. The alpha believes your rejection is an intention to challenge him.” My dad said. I was in deep trouble. I didn’t know what I had just done. “Our daughter needs her father. Azerin. Please come back to me. Please.” I heard the sickly sound of bones fusing and coming back together until Alpha Azerin stood before me. “My daughter will not accept your rejection.” His eyes went black and he shifted into his wolf again as they left the dining room. “Amber!” Luna Jelena cried out as my mate fainted in her arms. My mom, dad, and I all ran over to the side of the table where they had fallen. “Leave! Please just leave.” Her mom said to us as her voice cracked. “I’m a nurse Luna. Please accept my deepest apologies for my son and husband’s behavior tonight. Please let me help your daughter.” My mom begged. “That won’t be necessary. Please leave my house now. My wife has been gracious enough to ask politely, but I won’t. Leave now and take your son with you.” Alpha Azerin had returned. All I could do was hang my head in shame. I had ruined this night. I knew I had completely overreacted. My dad helped my mom up from her position on the floor beside an unconscious Amber and our Luna. I didn’t want to leave Amber, but I didn’t have a choice. She had done everything to show me that she was on my side. Yet I still messed it up because I couldn’t let go of the past. My mom wouldn’t even look at me. My dad went to shake Amber’s dad’s hand and was met with a hard glare. “This is how you repay me? By letting your son disrespect my daughter? If it weren’t for our old friendship, I’d tear you limb from limb right now.” Damn. I truly messed up this time. “I understand your anger Alpha. This is all my fault. I should’ve stayed and not ran away like a coward. I humbly apologize and I sincerely hope that you will allow my son and I to repair the damage we’ve caused one day.” Amber’s dad remained silent. We began to make our way to the front door. I stopped. I needed to at least apologize to the Alpha. I wasn’t even sure that he’d be willing to hear me out. I got down on both knees. “What are you doing Jamar?” Her dad asked me incredulously. “I’m humbly apologizing for my actions sir. I was out of line to treat Amber that way.” If and when Amber woke up, I would have to accept her decision. Even if it wasn’t the end goal I had in mind. Just then we heard a knock at the door. “Get up Jamar.” Alpha Azerin spoke to me as he went to open the door. “Sir! Do not open that door. Our security scanners indicate that the woman is a witch.” Amber’s dad laughed and said “I know Rafael. Her name is Valerie. I called her from High Crescent Coven. She is here to help my daughter.” Alpha Azerin calmly opened the door and greeted the young woman. She was beautiful. Brunette hair with blue green eyes. “Thank you for coming on such short notice. My princess is in trouble.” I looked away when he said that. This is all my fault. “Tell me what happened.” She looked calm, but spoke in a urgent tone. Alpha Azerin gave me a pointed look before speaking. “Her mate rejected her.” “WHAT?! Who rejected my baby girl?!” Rafael erupted in anger from where he stood. “Not now Rafael. We have to focus.” Amber’s dad replied. “I have some Moonbeam berries that I had to leave with security. I think these will help her wake up. Can you relay to your team that I need them back?” Valerie still stood at the threshold. “Yes. Rafael will escort you retrieve your items.” Everyone turned to look where Rafael was standing to see him leaned against the wall as if he were in pain. “Alpha I do not wish to disobey you, but I cannot follow your order regarding the witch.” He said it so low that I barely heard it with my wolf hearing. “Why can’t you help a guest that’s visiting to help the little girl that you’ve helped raise since she could talk?” Amber’s dad was beginning to get angry again. “Azerin. He can’t help because she is his mate. I think he and his wolf are at a standstill right now. He wants to obey your order, but his wolf wants to claim his mate.” Luna Jelena said to her husband as she rested her hand on his shoulder. “Jairo, take Valerie to my daughter.” Rafael growled. My dad motioned for Valerie to follow him into the dining room where Amber was still unconscious. “You. Go with Valerie. Be respectful to my daughter.” I didn’t ask twice. I just wanted to be close to Amber. I wanted to tell her I was sorry until my tongue bled. “I need her parents and her mate in here now. Everyone else must leave so I can perform the awakening ritual.” Valerie directed. My dad left and Amber’s parents returned in his place. “The reason I have called you all in here is because you all have your part to play in Amber’s current soul state. Jamar you rejected her. Azerin and Jelena, you hid her heritage from her and now her abilities have begun to manifest quicker than she can deal with. Her soul is tired.” Alpha Azerin put his head into his hands. “This is all my fault. After the prophecy was revealed and Amber was born, I took my family into hiding. I didn’t want my wife or daughter to be constantly looking over their shoulders thinking they would be hunted. We raised Amber in a human town and gave her no knowledge of werewolves until Amari began to present herself.” Wow. They were only trying to protect her from danger and she didn’t even know. “Jamar you rejected her out of your own selfish reasons. You hurt Amber because you were hurt. That will not come without repercussions. Everyone take each other’s hands. Jamar you hold one of Amber’s hands and I will hold the other.” Please let the ritual work. I didn’t know what I would do if it didn’t.
