No More Regrets

Amber After Sayed and his family left, I began talking with my dad. “Daddy I’m sorry if you felt like I was out of line. I can’t stand that girl.” My dad seemed to be surprised by my statement. As he started to reply, I heard a loud cracking. We spun around to find JD literally snapping his phone in half. “What’s going on JD?” My dad asked. I instantly knew. Aliana. I told you that b***h wasn’t done being a thorn in our side. I told you! Amari was furious and Jamar hadn’t even confirmed anything yet. JD just looked at me sadly and then put his head into his hands. “Aliana. She just told me she’s pregnant.” I went over and placed my hand on his shoulder. I began to caress his ear softly in between my fingers. It was time to tell the truth. “It’s not your baby.” I said calmly. “Oh yeah? How would you know that?!” Jamar shouted at me. Two low growls shook the dining room walls. Who was that? “If I ever hear you shout at my daughter while she is simply trying to help you again, I will banish you from this pack.” Alpha Azerin said in a deep voice. “Az I apologize on behalf of my son. He did not mean any disrespect.” Jamar’s dad looked at me. “I did not raise him to be disrespectful towards any woman. Please forgive him. I have to know though. How can you say for sure that it’s not his baby?” I felt conflicted. On one hand, it wasn’t my truth to tell. On the other, Aliana had hurt my mate and disrespected both of our fathers all in the same night. Enough was enough. “I saw the memories of her mate.” I said and bowed my head to show respect to Mr. Jairo. “Baby girl you never told us your abilities were already manifesting.” My dad said. “I know and I’m sorry papi. Everything is just happening so fast that I don’t have time to keep up.” I truthfully replied. JD and I still hadn’t even talked about the fact that we were pretty sure that we were mates. “I’m guessing this is the young man you were wanting to go on a date with Nena?” My mom said to me with a smile on her face. Caught! I realized that JD had turned around to face me completely. His head was resting against my stomach and his fingers were gently massaging my back. “Well would you look at this Az. I think our kids have some major explaining to do. I want both of you to start from the beginning and don’t leave anything out.” JD started explaining how Aliana and him had begun as friends with benefits. He said he never had the heart to correct her until he met me. My parents were definitely not happy to find out Ali had put her hands on me either. “This is the hard part.” I pulled myself out of JD’s embarace. “When I tried to get away from Terrance, he ended up grabbing my arm. Somehow I was transported back to the night he met Aliana and they discovered they were mates.” My voice began to tremble because I knew Jamar was going to react badly. Although I hadn’t been the one to betray him, I had known about Aliana and Terrance sleeping together and chosen to say nothing. “In Terrance’s memory, I saw them having s*x in the diner. Terrance tried to tell Aliana that he was close, but she didn’t listen.” “Close to what Amber?” JD’s voice was dangerously low. “He tried to pull out, but Aliana didn’t let him. Tonight she told me that her spirit wolf basically took control and she was powerless to stop that from happening. I told her when I experienced the memory shift that I would tell you what happened if she didn’t back off. JD please don’t be mad at me. I’m not the one who betrayed you.” I said breathlessly. “But you knew. You knew this entire time. Just like you knew about this meeting and what was really going to happen.” I couldn’t even say anything back because he was right. “I’ll tell you what. I’m out of here.” Jamar stood up to leave. “Amber Imani Henry, I reject you as my mate.” I felt my world beginning to crumble beneath me. He was rejecting me. “Why?” I could barely formulate a sentence. It was deathly quiet. Both of our moms looked shell shocked while Jamar’s dad had a steely gaze. I turned to find that my dad had shifted into his spirit wolf. In front of us stood a Snow White wolf. His teeth were bared and he was growling at JD with his hackles up. What is going on? I felt myself losing my grip on reality as the room began to spin. “Merrick.” A soft voice said that sounded like my mom. Who is Merrick?” Nothing was making sense. “Our daughter needs her father. Azerin please come back to me. Please.” I heard the voice of my mother again. Before I knew what was happening, my dad had reappeared again. “My daughter will not accept your rejection.” He shifted again and his wolf left. My mom came up to me and began to hold me. I hadn’t even realized that I had tears pouring down my face. My chest hurt. My stomach felt like it was in knots. I began to hyperventilate as the truth set in. Jamar had rejected me. Without warning, JD’s mom walked over to him and slapped him across the face. “How f*****g dare you? Do you realize the magnitude of what you’ve just done? Not only did you disrespect the house of your pack, but you rejected the pack leader’s daughter in his face. Are you that selfish? This young lady was prepared to take you as her mate in spite of you breaking that bond by being with a w***e and this is how you thank her? I am ashamed of your behavior right now.” Everything in me felt broken. I swore I would have no more regrets, but I couldn’t help it anymore. I closed my eyes and succumbed to the peaceful darkness that was beckoning to me. “Amber!” But it was too late. I heard the voice of the Moon Goddess. “Rest now my sweet baby. Rest.”
