Amber
Rafa pulled around to the front of my house and let me out. “Gracias Rafa!!” It was 11:57. Made it! I thought to myself. Three minutes to spare. I grinned and gave myself a pat on the back. Dad couldn’t ground me because I made curfew. Why are the lights on in dads office? I bet he fell asleep. Let me go wake him up and get him to bed. I thought to myself as I walked to my dad’s office. I opened the door to find my mom, dad, and a strange man sitting in the office talking. What was going on? “Amber can you come in and have a seat?” My dad spoke to me. He patted his lap which was strange because I hadn’t done that since I was a little girl.
“Your mom and I have something we want to talk to you about. I need you to listen and be mature about this ok?” My dad said as I sat down. “Amber.. there’s no easy way to say this. We are.. werewolves.” What? I began to giggle. Why were my parents trying to be funny. “Daddy I’m tired and you’re trying to play pranks! Can I go to bed please?” I said stubbornly. “Baby.. your dad isn’t joking. He has been the Alpha of the Los Reyes pack for 2 years now.” My mom said to me. I looked at her and her eyes were swollen and puffy from crying. “I stepped in as Alpha because our former one was in a bad accident and lost his memory. He asked if I could take over if and until he came back.” That’s when I again noticed the strange man in the office. “Who are you?” I asked. “Amber Imani Henry! Do not be disrespectful to our guest!” My dad boomed at me. I got scared.
“Azerin, she’s not being disrespectful. I am a stranger in her home listening to a very private conversation. She should question me. After all it’s in a wolf’s nature.” The man spoke in defense of me. “I’m Jairo. Jairo DeLeon.” DeLeon? As in Jamar’s dad? I felt woozy even though I was sitting down. “Do you know a Jamar DeLeon?” I asked timidly. It didn’t matter because JD and I hadn’t talked since the showdown with Aliana this morning. “Yes. Yes I do. He’s my son. How did you know that?” He asked me suddenly intrigued. “We go to the same school. I met him today.” It truly was a small world. “Amber the reason Jairo is here is because he will be taking my place as the Alpha and I will return to my role as Beta. Since you’re my only child and a girl at that, I cannot pass the role of Alpha to you. Jamar will become the Alpha and once he finds his mate, she will be the future Luna of this pack.” My dad said gently. What? I am so confused.
The reason that I am telling you any of this is because you are a prophecy child. When you were conceived, Alafia came to your mom in a dream and told us that you would be a very special baby girl. Your wolf Amari will give you special abilities that will protect this pack for generations to come. If you allow her to.” If I allow her to? Yes darling. If you allow me to. I shot up off of my dad’s lap. Who are you? Baby girl you know who I am. Don’t be afraid. I’ve been with you your whole life. My name is Amari Iman and I am your spirit wolf. We will meet when the time is right, but I am always here in the back of your mind.
I felt Amari leaving from the forefront of my mind and began to catch my breath. “Amber? What’s wrong?” Both of my parents had rushed to my side. “She spoke to me.” I barely managed to get out. “Who baby? Who spoke to you?” My mom asked. “Amari spoke to her.” Jairo answered for me. “Amber. What did she say? It’s very important.” My dad implored. “She just said that she’d been with me my whole life and that we’d meet when the time was right.” I replied back to my daddy. “What are we going to do? We need to transfer the titles back before the prophecy unfolds. If Amari has presented herself to Amber then it’s only a matter of time before her mate reveals himself.” My mom said in a worried voice. I was getting ready to speak when a bright light began to emit and take over the room.
“Jairo, my son, why are you here?” A voice filled the room. Ok. I have officially lost it. I thought to myself. “Goddess Alafia, you restored my memories and I came to reclaim my rightful title.” I heard the voice of Jamar’s dad say. “All of you uncover your eyes now and look at me.” I opened my eyes to see a beautiful woman. She could be my grandmother. She looked wiser beyond all of our years combined. “Jairo, Jamar will need you now more than ever. Your mate Idara has lost hope and needs to feel the love of her mate again. Go to them now. I will show you the way. Azerin and Jelena, you have done well and made me proud. This pack will be blessed for 100 years because of your sacrifices. Please don’t be so hard on my precious angel.” Precious angel? Me? “Yes, I am talking about you Amber. Come to me.” I rose up from the floor and walked directly in front of the floating goddess. I began to bow as I felt her lift my face with both of her hands. Jamar is your mate, but you will not be together for a very long time. He needs to heal from things in his past. Be there for him and support him. I will guide you. Then she was gone.
“Mom? Dad? Can I go lay down? This has been the longest day of my life.” My parents chuckled at my remark, but nodded their heads. “Goodnight everyone. Mr. Jairo it was nice meeting you and I hope everything works out with your family.” “Gracias mi Reyna futuro.” Future queen? What? I made it upstairs to my room and began my night routine. I put my bonnet on and laid down to check my texts one last time.
