Chapter Six

Willows POV

I went to go see Amber and see how she was holding up.  I still can’t believe how many pups she ended up having in the span of a few years.  I got to her cottage and knocked on the door.  She opened the door and greeted me while ushering me inside.  I saw the two nannies I sent over were busy helping change diapers.  

“Would you like any help Amber?” I asked. 

“Sure, could you help me change Hazel and Naomi’s diapers?” Amber signed.  I nodded my head and followed her to their nursery.  I began to think that perhaps this cottage was a bit too small for her and her now seven pups.  Unfortunately we didn’t have any bigger homes that were ready to go.  I could offer to let her maybe expand or something but then that wouldn’t be fair to the other pack members if I paid for hers and not everyone else’s.  I was going to talk to Ansel about that later and see if we can come up with a solution.  I mean having the pack grow in numbers would be amazing and more people would be happy if they could afford to expand their homes.

After an hour of helping Amber with her pups and getting them down for a nap, she and I sat down in the living room while the nannies just relaxed in the kitchen.  

“So Amber, I was thinking we should go out again sometime, maybe this upcoming weekend” I said to her.

“That would be nice as it’s been about a month since I last had the chance to leave and walk around” she signed.

“Plus maybe it’ll give you a chance to make some friends as well” I said.  She frowned a bit when I said this.

“I mean if you want to, you don’t have to Amber it was just a suggestion is all” I said which made her smile back at me.

“Perhaps eventually I’ll make some friends but right now I’m not really ready to do that” she signed.  I nodded.  I love my sister with all my heart but she does need to eventually make friends of her own so she can have a bigger support system.  I won’t always be here to help her or talk to her and I want to make sure she won’t be alone, but I can’t push her either.  

“Do you think Saturday would work to go shopping a bit?” Amber signed.  I nodded and we continued to talk about random things for a few hours before I had to leave.  

When I got back home I went to Ansel's office to talk with him.

“Hey weirdo” I said to him.

“Hey shortcake what’s up?” he asked.

“I wanted to talk with you about something,” I said.  He motioned for me to close the door and sit down.  I sat in front of his desk but he motioned for me to come over to him.  I did and he had me sit on his lap.

“So what did you want to talk about with me?” he asked.

“I noticed that Amber's cottage is a bit too small for her and her seven pups.  I want to help her expand her cottage but I know I can’t show favoritism in the pack when it comes to things like this but I don’t know what else to do” I said.  He seemed to be thinking when his face brightened a bit.

“Maybe we could start a program to help families that need a bit of help.  Like a payment program so they can just make payments on expansions and pay for it that way.  Of course there will be limitations to this.  Such as they can’t have more than two loans at a time and they will not be eligible if they make over a certain amount of money as I know some rich pack members that will exploit it if given the opportunity” he said.  I nodded and really liked the idea.

“It will take me a few months to get the program started but we can definitely do it,” he said.  I smiled and gave him a big kiss.

Saturday came super quickly and I made sure to give Amber an extra nanny to watch over her pups while we went out for a few hours.  Amber isn’t the only one I give nannies to.  There are a number of members who have a lot of pups and no mate because they either ran away from them or they died a sudden and tragic death as these things can’t be planned for.

We walked down to town and looked at all the clothes stores.

“Those people seem nice” I pointed to a group of girls who I knew were some of the nicest people in the pack.

“I don’t know, I really am not in the mood to make friends right now Willow” she signed.  I sighed and dropped the subject for now.  It’s been about five months since she left Teival and I have been trying not to push her with anything, however she needs to have someone to socialize with as we wolves are social creatures.  I began to think about how I could help her with this as she has also been going to therapy as well.  I told her that therapy was the requirement to have the free cottage and nannies.  I do this with all wolves in situations similar to hers.  However I feel like it is only helping so much.  Maybe a support group would help a lot as well.  I decided to mindlink her for more privacy.

What Willow?

What would you say to a support group?

I really don’t know Willow

You would be able to mindlink so everyone could know what you’re saying

I might be okay with that but I don’t want to be the only one that does that

You’re not the only wolf here who is mute due to trauma

Wait, really?

Yeah, we have a few others here as well just their trauma is a bit different from yours

Ok I guess I would be open to that Idea

That’s great, I’ll talk with the therapists about setting it up and let them take it from there.  Maybe this’ll help you with your trauma a bit

Amber nodded and we continued our shopping.
