Willows POV
After a month I decided it was time to try and petition for a new pack. It of course wouldn’t be run by me but would be run by my second in command. I had her sit with me as we wrote up everything that we intended to do in the new pack. I also asked Ansel if we could give a little bit of funding to the new pack if it's approved and he said yes as he understood it was for the greater good and he loves helping others when he can.
We put in things such as this being a pack that’s very open to new members and is to help heal those who need it. I had to make sure it didn’t sound like it would be tied to the underground because if it was it would be struck down immediately. If anything it sounds more like a place for peaceful rogues to be a part of a pack and to feel loved. Once we finished writing up the petition it was sent to the elders to be reviewed. I prayed to the moon goddess that it would be approved and I could start giving these poor wolves a permanent place to live and to feel safe. As I wait I plan more rescues, and right now we’re able to do eight a week which is quite a lot as that translates to 32 rescues a month which is enough to combat the growing numbers of requests coming in.
A week later I got a surprising message from the elders approving of the new pack so I am able to start it immediately. I let Amelia know and began preparations to make her an Alpha. Hopefully in a few weeks everything will be set up and I can start giving these wolves a choice of where to go. There will still be a waiting period of course to join the new pack as right now there are no places for anyone to live. I went to Ansel's office and told him the news.
“How much does it take to get a pack up and running?” I asked him.
“Hmm about fifty thousand or so, which I am more than willing to give,” he said. I smiled and hugged him.
“I think I can let you be a part of what's going on with that pack” I said which made him smile knowing I trusted him. We then began discussing plans for the new pack and how to get it set up. The territory had been given and it was a decent amount of land. We wanted the pack house to be built first so we started planning what it would look like. We then called Amelia in and we discussed what the name of the pack would be and what colors it would have. It didn’t take long to decide it would be named the forest full moon pack and the colors would be green and white. We also decided the pack house would have two stories and we would happily build five cottages as well. After all was said and done we put in the proper paperwork to have the pack house built. It was going to take about a month for it to be built which was fine for us as it would give me and Amelia time to start figuring out how the pack will make money. We can’t have the pack members go out and get jobs as it would put their safety at risk.
“We could have them make things and then sell them online,” Amelia said. I nodded but pointed out it wouldn’t make nearly enough money and I don’t want these wolves to feel like they’re slave labor.
“Well I can’t think of any other way to make near enough money then without everyone going out and getting a job” Amelia said.
“We could try to get contracts with other packs to make things for them or provide certain services for them” I said. She nodded and thought about it.
“How about we do a combination of all of those things, then we aren’t putting our eggs all in one basket” Amelia said. I agreed and so we finished deciding how to fund the pack.
A month later the pack house was built and about two weeks later we had five cottages built as well. With this all done I went to the facility and told the wolves about this.
“Ok everyone I have a huge announcement to make. Amelia here has started a new pack that will be for wolves escaping abuse. You can choose to be a part of that pack or you may try your luck with the other packs and their waiting lists” I told the group. I then talked about how in the new pack everyone is expected to do their fair share of work as well. Everyone in attendance seemed to be ok with this. I then told everyone they would have to wait two weeks before going to the new pack as building would have to be built. Out of 50 wolves that were in the group about 40 wanted to be a part of the pack. We agreed and then went to work on getting cottages and possible apartment buildings built as well.
Once that was all done I began to have every new wolf asked if they wanted to join the new pack or be on the waiting list. They would have a month to decide. I figured that would give them enough time to call loved ones in other packs to see if they can go there or if they wanted to research other packs or what not. Of course the added income the facility has been getting has allowed for it to be expanded and be able to hold more wolves. I even started to have another facility be built in another part of the country as well. This way I could help out even more wolves as I waited to petition for a new law to be passed.
