Not soon enough, a spot of light appeared in the distance, and the closer they grew to it, the more the general’s spirits lifted. It was an encampment with fires and tents and the smell of braising meat. And people – there were swathes of fair skinned people walking about, as if it wasn’t an ungodly hour of the night. Some on the outskirts noticed when the band of clansmen grew near, and they smiled and cheered for them, and looked on curiously as the outsiders were paraded through the encampment like curiosities on display. They passed by various shaped tents – all having different purposes, Cele figured, and all made of leather and furs.
