“You know what?” Evelyn said suddenly, setting down her fork. “We should go out tonight.”
I blinked. “Out?”
“Yeah. A club. It’s been forever since I had a girls’ night.” She turned to Adrian. “Right, Adrian? You won’t mind if Ivy comes with me?” I nearly choked on my drink.
I wasn’t sure what shocked me more.... the fact that Evelyn was inviting me or the fact that Adrian actually lifted his gaze.
For a moment, I thought he might say no. That he might scowl, say something possessive, or at least acknowledge my existence.
