The rest of the day passed without major disasters, which was honestly a miracle.
Adrian had been on his best behavior, for the most part. No impossible demands. No condescending remarks about my competence. No barking orders like a dictator. It was almost unnerving.

Because, of course, he couldn’t resist making the occasional remarks, though. Little things that made me want to throw a stapler at him.
