Chapter 4: Geez, What The Hell Did I Do Last night?
The next morning
Bella opens her eyes, but with no idea where she is. She can see the huge bed she's in but doesn't remember anything about how she got there.
She tries to get up but feels like she was hit by a truck the night before. As she sits up in bed, the sheet slides off, and she realizes she's completely naked. She grabs the sheet and covers herself again, looking around carefully. She starts to recall some images of what she experienced the day before.
She remembered arriving early at the hotel with the last Valentine's Day order and seeing that it was for the suite reserved under Mateo's name. It was also her birthday party, where she was supposed to spend her first night with him. But instead, she found her cousin and her boyfriend in bed in that very suite.
The memories of finding Mateo with her cousin and best friend gave her a pang of pain in her chest.
She remembered leaving the hotel, then going into a bar and drinking until she got drunk. She couldn't remember what she drank, but her head was starting to hurt.
But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't remember what happened next. She looked around, and suddenly a red stain on the sheet caught her attention. She had been with someone that she did remember.
"Damn! What the hell did I do last night? Who was I with last night? Who did I sleep with?" Bella's mind raced, she clearly remembered having been with someone all night, but she didn't remember who.
She had gotten her revenge by doing the same thing that was done to her, but why didn't she feel good?
She looked around, trying to find some clue about whose room she was in, but there was nothing. She tried to remember the man she had been with last night, but there was nothing in her head.
She looked at the floor, and her clothes weren't there either. How on earth was she going to leave this place if she didn't have any clothes to wear?
Suddenly, a knock on the room door broke through her thoughts. Bella went on guard; she had to face the man she had spent the night with—there was no other choice. She moved to get up and realized she was completely naked. She quickly covered herself with a sheet and walked through the large bedroom, and entered into an even larger living room.
Where was she?
The door opened, and a girl came in, carrying a tray with a bag on it. It seemed to contain clothes, shoes and some personal items.
The girl handed her the bag. "This is for you to change, Miss. Once you do, you can leave," the girl informed her, but Bella needed to know more. She wanted to know whose house she was in.
"Where am I? Whose house is this?" Bella asked. The girl who had brought her the clothes looked uncertain, and seemed to be in a bad mood while listening to her.
"Don't you know where you are? Don't you remember anything?" Were the only two questions she asked Bella.
Bella looked the girl up and down and rolled her eyes. Would she be asking if she knew? It was obvious she didn't.
"No, if I knew, I wouldn't ask," she said, waiting for the girl to answer her question. The girl looked at her for a second before responding.
"You arrived last night with a man," the girl said, "this is a hotel."
"With what man did I arrive?" Bella asked anxiously.
"Excuse me, but we must keep our clients' information confidential. I'm just an employee; I don't know who the man was that brought you here. Shouldn't you know that? I was only informed to give you these clothes when you woke up and that you should leave afterward," she says, and Bella tries to stay calm.
Now she notices the girl was wearing a uniform. So it was true. It seemed she had been with a stranger that night. Bella had gotten drunk and ended up sleeping with a stranger.
How was she supposed to get back home or return to work? She had thought her cousin and Mateo were terrible for what they did, but now she had done something even worse.
Bella waited for the girl to leave the room, took the clothes from the bag, and changed. She could see the marks and hickeys on her body in the mirror in front of her.
If Mateo or Sofia saw her like this, they would think the worst of her. How had she let things get this far? Bella knew she shouldn't drink; she lost consciousness and became a completely different person when she did. But she was so disappointed and hurt that only alcohol could calm her.
When she was younger, she drank until she passed out and ended up dancing on stage at the graduation party. That's when she met Mateo, who was with another girl that night and couldn't take his eyes off Bella. He fell in love at first sight with the beautiful brunette with green eyes who danced sensually on stage.
After that day, he made it his mission to learn her name and didn't stop until he won her over. It had been six months since Bella agreed to start a relationship with him, and from that moment on, Mateo never allowed her to drink a single drop of alcohol.
He knew perfectly well that his girlfriend lost control when she drank. That's why it was hard to understand why he wanted her to drink that day.
Had Mateo really fallen in love with Sofia and no longer wanted anything to do with her?
If that was the case, why not just break up with her and be with her cousin? They hadn't been intimate; they had only been in a relationship for six months.
Bella could easily understand the situation. Something strange was definitely going on.
