Chapter 3:Dates , bubble baths and bosses

"I would like a seven day vacation" Benjamin said and Sam had to pause and rein everything in so that she could not wring his neck.

She stood in her immediate boss's glass walled office and she was angrier than she had ever been. “ Why?” she asked turning from the filling cabinet to face him. She had been looking for a file that his assistant had misplaced. Again. For the tenth time this month. Sometimes she wondered whether she was the assistant manager or his personal assistant. She could use the extra salary.

“ I have been holed up in this office all day this month for sixteen hours" Benjamin said as if it was a revelation leaning in his brown leather swivel chair. He put his hands behind his head and watched her waiting for her to oppose him and argue.

“ Surely you know this is a busy time for the company,the takeover ,the merge and the rest,if you left my life would be miserable" she groaned .Benjamin was known as the office flirt. It may have been due to the nature of his job salesmen had a charisma which just pulled people to them or just the fact that he was a good looking man. With his blond hair and blue eyes and confidence to boost he could have women flocking to him. To Sam however he was like her elder brother and mentor. Although according to the office gossip she was his office wife. Sometimes she wondered if they knew how bitter and jelous they sounded. His girlfriend had not been too found of her and had made it known not that Sam cared. Ben had taught her a lot and she soaked it all in like a sponge .She was not going to give up this good relationship just because people were insecure in their relationships. She didn't take any pleasure in people's misery but Ben and her had a good and pure relationship and that was what mattered.

“Angie broke up with me ," he said quitely as he leaned over placing his elbows on his table.

“Why?" I repeated again. Ben had his flaws which were many but breaking up with him seemed so absurd. The last time she checked Angie was positively obsessed with Ben.It absolutely made no sense

“She said I spend more time in the office than her"

“You told her about the merge"

“Yep"

“Oh Ben, I am so sorry"

“Its cool am fine"

“A vacation it is then" Sam replied as she stood smothering her skirt. Then she took the file and walked into her office and sat at her desk.Ben's head pooped in the door a mischievous glint in his blue eyes.

“Yes" she probed.

“You will deliver the special file to Mr Robinson home tommorow morning"

“What did you say?"she squeaked

"Will you you deliver the file to his house?" he repeated.

"Do I have a choice?" she asked while Ben gawwfed all the way to his office.

Until she walked out of the office and saw Ben again she had forgotten about the file delivery. Her secretary had packed it in her suitcase for her. Lily was her office Angel.The whole day had consisted of various meetings in various boardrooms trying to get new investors and fending off useless ones. All she wanted know was a hot bath with a glass of wine.

She sigh as she climb into my car and drive off .She looks out of her car window as she pulls into the slow moving qeue as she thought of the handsome stranger . He seemed to make her head a permanent residence.She pulls up in her apartment complex before packing in her usual space .She opens the main door before making her way to the elevator and press three. She feel like her would fall in her feet.

Taking the key from her bag she opened her door and entered her apartment. Flicking the lights on she was met with her dog Wanda. She was a cute pomeranian.

“Hey budy missed me" she said stroke behind her ears. It makes her body wriggle. She leans into my legs and mouths my hand. She dropped her bag on the chair then walked into the kitchen.

Her dog followed her around as she busied herself making her diner.She fried chicken in rosemary and made a vegetable salad with walnut oil. “Are you hungry?I ask and she looks up to me with her ears pricked. She then put dog food in the dog bawl.“ I should have ordered" she said as she watched cosmo eating his diner before she wolfed down hers. Thinking of what to cook always seem to destroy her brain cells.

As she lay down on her hot bath she felt all of her tense muscles relax. She sighed with satisfaction and sipped her wine. She contamplated for a second before reaching out to her phone and calling her mother

“Mama, how are you?"

“Hello darling,how did your date go?"

"Terribly bad,this has to stop mama"

"Oh no you don't ,do you want to end up all old and lonely."

“I have a fiance already" she blurted before she could stop herself,right now all she wanted was an end from the never ending dates.

“You do!!" her mom screeched“ why didn't you say?”

“You never gave me a chance and anyway things have been quite tight in the office recently"she laughed nervously.

"Okay we will meet him next month that should be enough " her mom declared.

“Okay,bye mom I love you" she sighed.

"I love you too darling" her mom replied.

“Well that went terribly wrong" she sighed as she dried herself and dropped into her bed completely naked . As she slips into sleep she feels Wanda flop on the bed beside her,her tail thumping against the pillow in slow rhythmic sound that beckons her to into the darkness and succumbed to the deepest sleep she had recently.
