Chapter 2

"Watch your step, you blind bat," Pablo yelled at Pamela after hitting him, accidentally bumping into him after she angrily stormed out of McKenna's office. "What a pity. "Perhaps, none of this would have happened if you had concentrated on your movement," Pamela clapped back at him and gestured back to her duty post. "Did she speak to me in such a manner? Or am I hallucinating?" Pablo asked rhetorically as he pondered why Pamela treated him like trash. Judging from her unruly behavior, he could discern that something was eating her up. These two weren't on talking terms. "Her attitude speaks volumes," he muttered and walked inside his father's office without knocking. "There you go again. Why didn't you knock? "You don't just break into people's offices as you wish," McKenna scolded Declan for walking in unannounced. "Are you still mad at me over what happened this morning? I apologize for being rude towards you. Besides, she's gone. "We've got nothing to worry about," Pablo assured, and apologized. He was caught having s*x with a mystery girl on the couch in the morning. "Who gives a damn about your so-called mistress? "That's the least of my problems right now," McKenna hissed and focused on his PC. "I just had a nasty encounter with Pamela outside the office. She looked different. "Something is eating her up, and I bet you know about it." Pablo sat down and popped the question. "And why would I know anything about it? You had the opportunity to ask her. "Why are you here anyway? "I thought you'd never show up?" he ignored the question, but Pablo wasn't ready to back out either. "Stop running away from the question. "Did you do anything to upset her?" Pablo kept pushing for an answer. "Okay, fine." McKenna bowed to pressure and explained about the stolen check. "It wasn't your fault her mother stole from us. "She deserves to be punished to set an example for those opportunists out there," Pablo supported his father's actions. "I intend to drop the case," he unleashed the bombshell that left Pablo astounded. "When did you suddenly become this nice? We both know this is a joke. I mean, her mother couldn't escape prosecution. "A few years behind bars wouldn't be a bad idea." He laughed mischievously and doubted his father. McKenna is known for one thing, except for forgiveness. He barely forgives, irrespective of the victim involved. Hearing his father speak about granting a pardon to a stranger who stole such an outrageous amount is what Pablo couldn't seem to wrap his head around. "I need an explanation, Dad. You are driving me crazy. Why would she be granted a pardon? Are you sleeping with her?" "How dare you? I demand an apology for that false accusation. "You should know me better than the rubbish you just spew," McKenna slammed his desk in anger. "I am sorry, Dad. I just feel there's more to this. You just don't become benevolent in one day." "I know this may sound very ridiculous, but you just need to know I asked her to marry you for five years and file for a divorce afterward," McKenna disclosed, and acted like he never said anything. "What the heck?" Pablo interrupts his father with an exclamation. "I'm not done yet," he protested. "What else do I need to hear? Just so you know, this is never going to happen." Pablo stood up and sparked outrageously. He wouldn't stop yelling at his Dad as though they were mates. "Can you stop yelling and sit your ass down?" he took control of the situation with a thunderous yell. Reluctantly, he obeyed and looked at his father with a bombastic side-eye. Scottsdale sighed and revealed the multi-billion-dollar deal Lead Way insurance company could lose if he refused to get married to Pamela. "So this is about the company? I should have known. "Do you even care about what I want?" Pablo bemoaned. His father had never seen him that emotional before. "You just have to trust me, soon. "I'm doing this for your future," McKenna spoke in a calm tone to assure Pablo. "And what if I decline?" Pablo stood up! "You risk losing your inheritance to your kid brother. Which means, he automatically becomes my heir apparent," McKenna shattered his heart to shreds. "This is the height of wickedness. Am I even your biological son? I know you never liked me, but this? "It is cruelty," Pablo placed his head on the desk and bemoaned. He didn't see this coming. He would have doubted if anyone had predicted his father would do this to him. "Enough with the emotions, son? "Are you in or not?" McKenna snarled. He wasn't interested in Pablo's wailing. Moments later, Pamela walked inside with a file in her possession. The moment she saw Pablo seated in the office, she made a U-turn to walk away. She can't stand being in the same room as Pablo for seconds. "No, you're staying. "You two need to start getting used to each other," McKenna authorized. "What are you talking about? "The last time I checked, I hadn't accepted your proposal yet," she asked with a cracked tone. "You are no threat to me, Pamela. I was only concerned about Pablo, but he has accepted already.? "Did he?" Astonished, she asked. "Shocking, right?" McKenna laughed. "This is unbelievable. This can't happen. I thought?" Pamela paused for a moment after her phone suddenly rang from a strange caller. "Sorry, I need to take this," she frowned and placed the phone in her left ear. "Yes, it's Pamela. Who are you? My mom? What happened to my mom? "I would be there immediately," she screamed, and got off the phone. "What happened to your mom? "Is she okay?" with the deepest concern, McKenna inquired. "I just got off the phone with a cop at the station. It's about my mom. He sounded so urgent. "I think she's in danger," she replied in a faint tone. "Damn! "Hold on a sec while I drop you off," he opted. "That won't be necessary. "I got a car, remember?" she declined his request and stepped outside. Despite the devastating news, Pablo wasn't moved. He remained glued to his position as though it were nobody's business.
