Sweet 18

Caroline's POV 3 Years Later An annoying chirping noise, followed by a loud groan, erupted out of the darkness. A hand felt around an old wooden night stand, searching without luck for the screaming box of an alarm clock.  Alarm clocks are not used on birthdays, she thought to herself as her fingers found the cold, shrieking box. She slammed a fist down on it, with probably a little more force than necessary, and snuggled back down into her pillows.  "I know you are NOT planning on spending the day in bed after I spent 18 years waiting for you," a disapproving voice rang out in Caroline's head.  She shot straight up in bed with a gasp. "Oh my god, is this happening?! Are you my wolf?" Caroline was so excited she almost fell out of bed turning on her bedside lamp.  "Not if you don't get your ass up. Then I'll go dormant and you can live a normal, non-werewolf life," the voice said, but she said it kindly.  "I'm up, I'm up!" Caroline said, swinging her feet over the side of the bed. She couldn't contain her excitement.  Her wolf laughed then introduced herself, "My name is Rae. It is very lovely to meet you, dear."  "Rae. Got it. Hard to forget, right? With you in my head and all," Caroline said, getting up to open the curtains next to her full length mirror. She didn't expect to see any differences, but was still going to check regardless.  Rae laughed in her head "Yeah, I suppose it is a little more difficult to forget since we will be together day and night from now until forever."  Caroline studied her body in the mirror. Everything looks pretty much the same, she thought. Then she caught a glimpse of the eyes in her reflection and gasped, leaning closer. Her eyes, normally a boring brown color she always hated, were now swirling shades of blue and green with bright yellow at the center. She ran a hand through her tangled bedhead- her hair was slightly thicker too.  Caroline's door opened and her mother peeked her head in with a smile. "Oh, I didn't think you would be up, sweetie," her mother said. Caroline ran to her mother and hugged her tightly then pulled away.  "Mom, look! My eye-" Caroline began to say.  "Your eyes...oh my God," her mother said. She put a hand to her mouth and tears welled up in her eyes. "I haven't seen those eyes in 15 years," her mother said, and then she fainted to the floor.
