Chapter Nine

916 Words
Christopher POV As I stood there trying to get Kat to calm herself, she buckles over and hits the floor. I knew what was going on. Her wolf was trying to emerge. That only happens when you are close to your 18th birthday. In the years before, your suppose to have someone train you to control your wolf impulses and explain the change. What to expect, how to deal. But looking at her and seeing the panic in her eyes, I know for her this wasn't the case. Who is she? I'm happy she is a wolf, but who would send their daughter out into the world without preparing her first. The thought pissed me off. "Chris! You have to leave! Something is wrong with me, you have to go before I hurt you!" She cries "No Kat I'm not leaving you! Look at me Kat," I tell her and grab her face so that she's looking at me. "You tell me if you want this pain to stop. You tell me that, and I will make it go away. But you have to tell me. I know you don't know me but I promise I know what this is and I can help you. I promise I won't hurt you." She looks at me pained and conflicted, "Yes. Yes please help me! I feel like my skin is ripping apart!" I nod at her and call Mason over who I see standing a few feet away. "Wolfsbane. Smallest dose possible." He opens the car and brings back a syringe. "Kat, this is wolfsbane. A small dose will help calm you maybe knock you out for a bit. I'm going to give it to you, okay?" I ask her permission before inserting the needle. She nods at me with tears streaming down her face and her eyes squeezed shut. She was trembling all over. I insert the needle and push the wolfsbane in til there is none left. She starts to settle, her body beginning to relax. I look down at her and caress her face. Her eyes open and she looks at me, a small smile spread across her face. "Thank you." She whispers and then she passed out. "Mason, we need to go to rent a room so Kat can rest for the day." "Got it. Let's get her in the car." I lifted her in my arms. She was small, but had muscle. I was worried what was going to happen once she woke up. She had so much to learn and I had a feeling she knew nothing about who, or what she was. But she was going to find out. 2 days later I was getting concerned because she hasn't awoken. Normally a wolf that gets a small dose can wake a few hours later. But its been two days. I couldn't leave. I was drawn to her so I have been here watching after her while Mason kept an eye on things with our pack at Lincoln. A lot of talk was going around about Kat not showing at school. She began to stir in her sleep, mumbling. I sat up in my chair watching her. Next thing I knew she gasped and sat straight up in the bed. I rushed to her side as she looked around the room frantically. "Hey hey its me. Its Chris" I said to her grabbing her hand and caressing her face. My touch seemed to calm her down. "Where am I?" She asked me. "Your in my suite. I rented it so you could rest. Also I didn't really know where you lived to take you home." I smiled sheepishly at her. "Mason and I grabbed you some hygiene and some clothes. I'll leave you alone to get ready." I walked out to give her some space. A while later, I returned to the suite to find her showered and dressed. She sat at the edge of the bed looking at the floor in thought. She blinked. "How long have I been sleeping?" I hesitated. "Two days." I tell her rubbing a hand through my hair. Wide eyed she shrieks out, "TWO DAYS?!" "Yes, but I've been here the whole time making sure you were alright." I tried to assure her she was okay but she seemed concerned about something. "Its not that! My dad! He must be worried sick about me!" She stood up and started putting on her shoes and trying to get her things together. "Kat." She started to ramble on moving around the room as she collected her things. I reached out and grabbed her. "Kat, wait." She stopped and stared at my hand, then looked up at me. "I have to ask you something that may seem strange to you." She stayed looking at me. " Do you understand what is going on with you?" She put her head down and shook her head. "No, I don't. That's why I'm afraid to be around anyone. I'm afraid I might hurt someone." She put her face in her hands and began to cry. I pulled her close, and let her cry. As I held her I felt the bond getting stronger. It felt so overwhelming. She sunk her body into me and sighed. I pulled back and looked down on her. As she looked up at me I took a chance and leaned in and kissed her soft lips. It felt right and I never wanted it to end.
