John POV
I had a feeling bout this kid standing inches away from my daughter. I wasn't sure what it was but I didn't trust him. How could I? So I did the only thing that would make my daughter happy and that was to be civil to him. I stuck out my hand and the boy took it and as we shook hands I turned his hand revealing his palm that had a wolf pack tattoo.
My eyes widened. Could he be one of his? Had they finally found us? Panic rose in my chest but I held my composure. He had her, for 2 days he had her and he could've taken her away so why didn't he? I needed answers. "Sweetheart. Go ahead and head inside. I would like to speak to this boy alone please." She raised her brow at me. "I promise, it'll only be a minute or two."
She looked between both of us and sighed. "Alright, play nice you two." Then she turned, walked inside and shut the door behind her.
"Who are you?" I asked him
"Pardon me?" He asked confused
"Yes boy, i know your name is Chris but Who are you? What do you want with my daughter?!" I was doing everything I could not to attack him because I knew Kat would be watching.
"I wanted to make sure she was safe." Was all he said. I narrowed my eyes at him waiting to see if he'd tell me more. He sighs. "In all honesty sir, Kat is my mate and I'm finding it particularly hard to stay away from her."
"So you are a werewolf?!" I spat
"Yes, and so is she. But I have a feeling you already knew that. What I don't know, is why she doesn't." He says accusingly.
"No, she doesn't and I will tell her in my own time so stay out of our family affairs!"
"Do you honestly think you can hold that in any longer?! You are running out of time! She was scared out of her mind and she almost went savage on the girl at school because she can't control her rage! You want me to stay out of it then you better do right by her and tell her the truth about who she is!" Chris says stepping in my face
"Boy I would caution you to watch yourself. You don't know who I am." I say glaring at him
"It seems to me neither does your daughter if you can even call her that! Your not one of us! I can feel our kind and there is not one drop of wolf blood in you!!" He snarled
"No, she's adopted! Is that what you want to hear?!" I growled at him
"No, its not. It's not comforting knowing my mate is in the hands of someone that knows nothing of what she is. How are you suppose to keep her safe from hunters?" I wince at the word, as I use to be the very thing I'm trying to protect her from. "How are you going to teach her to control her impulses to tear someone she sees as a threat apart without exposing herself to your kind?! To humans?? " I said nothing because I knew this boy was right.
"You're right, but let me tell her."
"It only seems right that you do."
"But you are to stay away from my daughter from this point on."
He chuckles. "That's not going to happen. Now that I know she IS one of us and she is my mate I'm going to do everything within me to keep her safe. Even if its from you." He stared at me for a minute. "I'll go now. But I will be seeing you again."
He turned and started walking to his vehicle. He got in started the engine and left. I turned for the house. What do I do? This is worse than I thought. The wolves are starting to sense her. I walk inside and lean on the door as I close it shut behind me. I'm exhausted.
Two nights I was out looking for her and now that I have her back, I feel I might lose her again. I pull out my phone and dial a number. I wait and hear the voice on the other end. "Hi, it's time. We need to meet to talk about Kat. Yes same place tonight. But be careful." I close my phone and walk to the kitchen. I hope telling my daughter the truth of who she is won't push her away from me.
