Chapter Thirteen

549 Words
Kat POV I watched as Chris and my dad exchanged words. It looked like it was getting heated. I wonder if Chris told him about us. About making me his. Chris walks to his car then moments later drives away. I hide as my dad turns and stares up at the house. I had to get upstairs before he sees me. I got up the stairs as my dad walked through the door. He sighed and started calling someone. "Hi... it's time. We need to meet to talk about Kat. Yes..same place tonight. But be careful." He closes his phone and walks into the next room. Who was he talking to on the phone? And why did he have to talk to that person about me?? I won't wait. I'm going to approach my father about this. Im tired of the secrets. I stood up from the stairs to go down in search of my dad but decided to wait til later after I've rested. 5 hours I slept. I didn't realize how tired I was. I'm thinking it was the stuff Chris injected me with to calm me down. I got up and searched for my dad. Of course I found him in the training room. It was nearly dark out and I wondered why he hadn't left yet. "Dad?" "Kat, how are you feeling?" "I'm okay." I hung my head. " I'm sorry I was gone, I hope you didn't freak out too much." He smiled at me, "I was a bit freaked out. Spent the last two days looking. I'm just glad your okay." "Yeah, I'm not okay though, dad. And I get this feeling that you know why." I say staring him down. Avoiding my gaze he says, " Kat now is not the time to do this okay. I have something I need to take care of." "No, make time dad. Or what? Is this mysterious person your going off to see much more important then your own daughters wellbeing?" My dad glared at me as if that would make me back down but I don't know, I'm starting to realize I am stronger than I thought. "Ya, I know that your going to meet with someone to talk about me." He freezes where he stands. I chuckle. "You won't even deny it will you? You know, I don't ever ask you for anything. I don't question why your always so tough on me, and for a while I did as asked until I was getting trained so much that I was too drained to stay awake in class. We move, and I'm the one who has to give up my happiness for what you want well I'm sorry. But I'm turning 18 in two weeks and if you want to keep on down this road. I'll pack my bags and leave. Find someone else whose willing to help me figure things out." Unbelievable, even when I threaten to leave he won't tell me what I want. He just stands there looking at the ground like he's stuck in his thoughts but I don't have time to do this. I need to find answers. I turn away from him and walk to the door mentally preparing myself for the next steps ahead. "Goodbye dad."
