Chapter Fourteen

Christopher POV

Driving away from Kat's place I had a strange feeling about her father. The man was odd. Like he had something he was hiding. I meant what I said about going back. But I've been away from home for 3 days now. I needed to give my father an update on the intel I got on the new hunter. But I needed to get it from Gia and pick up Mason on the way.

I pull up to the High School. Walking up, I see Gia sitting on Mason's lap. Smirking at them I start to make jokes. "Well isn't this cute? When you guys going to forget about this mate business and hook up already?"

"Actually, we are." Gia says with a grin.

I stop. "Are what?"

"Mates." Mason and Gia say in unison. Well hell..they ruined my fun.

"Congratulations you two! And its about damn time!!"

"Speaking of. How'd it go with Kat? She alright?" Mason asks with genuine concern.

I blush a bit remembering what happened earlier this morning and my heart starts to beat out of my chest at the thought of her naked body underneath me. "She's actually okay. I dropped her home. Her old man wasn't too happy when he seen me though. I'm going to go back as soon as I get back into town. Have to head back to give my father an update. Gia, you get anything else from your contact?"

"Actually ya. A whole lot." Gia hands me a file. "So it turns out my contact has a relative that had a run in with this hunter. About 12 years ago, her father was murdered by a man they called Amarok." That name, where have I heard that name before I thought to myself as I listened to Gia and went through the contents of the file.

"Seems he killed a dozen or so wolves from different packs. Including, the daughter of an Alpha and slaughtered anyone in the home. My contact's father was the head security there. I'm trying to remember the name." She puts her hand to her head as if rubbing the information out. "Solace! Yes the family name was Solace and I believe they were from the Redmond pack." My eyes went wide as I was staring at a picture of a younger version of Kat's father. He was a hunter, and she a wolf. That could only mean one thing..Kat and Kiana are the same person! But I have to get more info before I jump with this information.

"Turns out this hunter, John Lawson, was only at Amarok's side up until the Redmond attack then disappeared off the face of the earth. His whereabouts unknown. At least until now. From what I heard, he did something that Amarok didn't approve of so Amarok sent out some of his men after him but he was long gone. My question is, why come back?"

"Gia, your a goddess!" I plant a kiss on her cheek. "Mason I'm heading back to Seattle, you coming?"

"I'm there. See you later babe!" He calls out to Gia after kissing her and running off to the car behind me. As soon as we got in we set off for Seattle. Mason looked over at me and stared. "You gunna tell me what happened between you two or what?" He said with a smirk.

I look over at him quickly then turn away. I chuckled, "No. But I will tell you something, she is definitely a wolf."

"That's great! Right?" He asked uncertain.

"Ya it is but here's something that you won't believe. You know that file Gia gave me on the hunter?" He nods. "It's Kat's dad."

What I just said had Mason wide eyed and jaw dropped. "What do you mean that's her father?! That's impossible if she's one of us! Unless, her mother was a wolf who mated with a human??" He was so stunned.

"I was thinking the same thing, except now I think it's something else." Mason looked confused. "Look, in the file it says that the hunter, John Lawson had a wife and daughter but, the daughter had died during home birth. The wife lived on with John then one night they were walking somewhere in Seattle and a savage wolf took John out and killed his wife. It reads on to say that John and this guy Amarok went off in search of her killer."

"Did they find him?" Mason asked

"Yes. Amarok did but what I don't understand is why he continued to kill if they already took care of the one that killed his wife." I said my thoughts out loud.

"I think that's something we should ask old dad don't you think?" Mason says matter of factly. He shot a look at me. "Wait, how does Kat fit into this? You said his daughter died at birth and the file here says that he and this Amarok guy killed everyone in the home including Alpha Solace's daughter."

"Yes but what the file doesn't say is that Alpha Solace had TWO daughters, the other one disappeared."

"How do you know? That he has another daughter?"

"Because he asked me to find her." I say looking over at Mason. "And Mason, I think Kat is his daughter. I need to speak to Solace and ask him for one of her personal effects but I think it's her. I feel it. Something is off with Kat's dad. When he saw me he confronted me about being a wolf."

"Did you ask him about Kat?"

"Of course! Kat went inside and we had a little chat. I asked if he knew she was wolf and he didn't flinch or look surprised at all. I asked him how he had a wolf for a daughter and he said she was adopted. It all fits!"

"Man, this is serious. What are you going to do? Does Kat even know?"

"I honestly don't think she does and what's worse. I don't think she knows she's a wolf either. I mean, you seen her. She freaked when she was going through the change and that was just the beginning. If she would've changed, she could've killed that girl."

"Damn, this is so f****d up! So she has to go through the change, AND find out her own father isn't even hers?!"

"And that he hunts the very thing she is, killing dozens of our kind" I said through clenched teeth.
