Chapter Nineteen

Christopher POV

"You moved here of all places?! What the hell made you think she'd be safe here?! You put her in more danger!!" I spat at John.

"His focus right now isn't us, its the facility. Though I'm sure he wants my head on a platter." John said.

"Mason, we have to get the pack out of here. If the facility is here in Portland they are in danger."

"Gia!" Mason becomes panicked and rightfully so. She's been getting intel and looking into all sorts of stuff in order to find our missing pack members. "Let's go!" Mason says then runs from the room.

I see as Kiana gets up to go with us. "No! Not you Kiana. You stay here with John."

"What? No! I'm coming with you!! You just finished saying how dangerous it is for our kind Chris." She said to me with pleading eyes.

"She's right. She isn't safe with me. I don't know if Erikson knows I'm here or not but if he does, he will come for me." John looked guilty.

I turned to Kiana. "I don't want anything to happen to you. I would never be able to live with myself." I caressed her face and put my head to hers. "I just got you. I can't lose you."

"And you won't. As long as I am with you. I'm your mate, remember." She says smiling at me.

"Okay, let's go. You'll be alright?" I ask John.

"I'll be okay. Be safe, Kiana." She nods at him and we both leave getting to the car and Mason takes off for Gia's.

Kiana POV

As we pulled up to Gia's place Mason jumped out of the car and ran to the house. Chris and I followed him and as we neared the door, we saw the door was ajar. Chris and I stop and Mason looked back at us before heading in.

"Gia!" He called out. We heard rustling in the next room. A man stepped out and he shot Mason in the chest which made him sink to his knees.

"Mason!" I screamed trying to get to him to see if he was okay but Chris stopped me and put me behind him.

"Don't move! Or I'll shoot you too!!" The man sneered.

"What did you do to him?!" I cried watching Mason gasp in pain.

"Wolfsbane." He smiled shaking the gun at us.

"What do you want? Where's Gia?" Chris snarled at the man

"Oh, you mean the blonde perky one? She's gone. She was able to get out of here before we got to her but we'll catch up to her. We got the other one though. He has a mouth on him. I had to give him a double shot just to shut him up." He chuckled.

Asher. He must be talking about him. "As far as what we want.." The man says then looks to the side

"Her." Came a voice from the next room. Chris turned his body and kept me behind him. My eyes went wide as I recognized the man from my nightmares. "Amarok." I said in horror

"Ah yes, so my reputation precedes me. I am at a disadvantage as you know my name but I have yet to learn yours."

"Don't you? If you came for me you must know who I am." I spit at him challengingly. He stares at me for what feels like forever before he speaks. "Your eyes, I've seen your eyes." Next thing I knew I hear a gun go off and John comes thru the door shooting down the man that shot Mason with wolfsbane. I look towards Erikson and notice he fled.

"Are you two alright?!" John calls out. Chris turns to me "Babe, are you good?" He asks. I was breathless. My heart pounding hard in my chest.

"Ya, I'm good just a bit shaken up." He pulls me and kisses me.

"Okay. We're good in here!" He yells to John. We go to Mason and he's still struggling to stay awake.

"Don't fight it Mason. Just rest." I tell him sweetly stroking his head." I hear someone running up. It was Gia looking spooked and out of breath. She comes in and sees Mason on the floor.

"Oh my God! What happened?!" She cried out

Chris tells her. "Gia, He's fine. He just got hit with wolfsbane. Are you okay? Where were you??"

“Asher and I were here waiting to hear from Mason. We heard a car pull up outside. Asher got up to see if it was you guys and he turned to me telling me to run." She starts crying. “They busted through the door as I got to the back and I saw them shoot Asher. They got him and I ran! Who are they?"

"They are Erikson's men. We have to move." John says. Gia narrows her eyes at him probably recognizing him from the file. We get Mason and load him into the car. Gia drove while I sat in the back to keep an eye on Mason. Chris sat passenger so he could phone ahead and let his father know he was coming. Behind us, John and Leila followed us to keep us safe on our travel to Seattle.
