In the past, I have already thought of a situation wherein I could not get Lewis' help. In that case, I thought that I could just run away in a place where Alec would not see me. However, if I do that, the evil god would still come and devastate everything. And in the end, I would still die and fail to protect those I needed to protect.
'I have to get him to agree...' I thought to myself. 'No matter what it takes.'
"How can I make it satisfying for you?" I asked Lewis while carefully hiding my desperation.
"Well, you can throw more offers on the table," Lewis replied with a small smirk.
I put two fingers on my lips and deeply thought.
'I thought that he would jump on the opportunity to use Ylva's power,' I narrowed my eyes and thought.
'Other than Ylva's power... I don't have anything to offer,' I came into a painful realization and felt my eyes warming.
Suddenly, I saw Lewis' hand come closer to my face and wiped the corner of my eye. Then, he said, "I will give you an idea."
I hurriedly met his gaze and awaited his sentence.
"You have beautiful eyes," Lewis said without a warning. I looked into him with confusion. Lewis saw the question in my eyes. However, he did not answer me and instead, took my hand that was covering my lips. Then, he said, "Plump pink lips." At that moment, I had an idea on the direction his words were going.
'Is he... flirting with me?' I felt my heart beat faster.
"I will hide you and protect you from Alec. I can also help you accomplish your other goals," Lewis added as he gave me a magnetic look.
"In return... why don't you fully give yourself to me?" He asked with a full smirk.
I blinked at his statement. 'Fully give? Does he want me to be his slave?' I worriedly thought.
Lewis seemed to have seen my thoughts and said, "Ah, I did not mean that I wanted you to work for me."
"Rather, why don't you directly erase that punk's existence in your life, receive my mark, and be my mate?" Lewis asked as his eyes twinkled like the stars.
CHAPTER FIVE
ADELIA
Lewis' magnetic eyes stared at me as if he wanted to imprison my soul. He lightly stated his offer, as if it was but a small matter to him.
On the other hand, I could not believe what I heard.
In my visions, I knew that he did not have any mate. Nobody knew what happened to his mate. Did she die early on? Or did he not find her in the first place? No one had a clue. But there was no question that many women came after him, and they were all badly rejected, with some even committing mistakes that caused them their lives.
'I was aware of that. That's why I didn't even think of me becoming his mate....' I pondered. 'To think that he will directly offer to mark me....'
Lewis was observing me for a while before his eyes slowly narrowed. "Hhmm? Can't bear to be marked by another?" He asked me in a gentle voice yet I almost jumped in fear.
I gripped my hands and said in a resolute voice, "No."
In my visions, I gave Alec all of my heart and soul. I did everything in my power to support and protect him... only to be stabbed in my heart before he absorbed my wolf.
That future, I could never let it happen. So I would do everything in my power to prevent it... which necessarily includes removing my treacherous mate from my life.
"From the moment I decided to avoid him, I already decided to cut any relationship with him," I decisively told Lewis.
"It's just... I was surprised by your offer," I sincerely told him. "I didn't expect that you would be willing to make me your mate."
Lewis merely raised a brow and did not reply to my statement. Instead, he asked me, "So what is your answer? Think carefully... because I will not ask you a second time."
I licked my dry lower lip and before telling Lewis with an unwavering tone, "I agree."
"...but," I started to say but was not able to finish because Lewis reached out for me. Without a warning, I felt his arm wrapped around my middle, pulling my body close to him. And before I could react, I felt his hot breath on the side of my neck... the place where my mark would be placed.
"Wait!" I hurriedly said as my heart started to grow more panicked.
"There are no waits and buts. It's either you agree to be mine or not," Lewis softly said. Each time he spoke, I felt his hot breath on my skin, making it tingle. His body was pressed closely on mine, making my face turn beet red because of embarrassment.
"And since you have agreed, then let's not waste time and get over it," he whispered on my skin before I felt his teeth gently grazed on my neck. I was thoroughly flustered.
Lewis stayed still for a few seconds as if he was giving me some time to stop him. But even when my mind was bewildered with the sudden situation, my heart had already decided that in this lifetime, I would stand on Lewis' side. And so I did not move an inch and let Lewis do what he wanted to do.
As if he was teasing me, Lewis softly chuckled upon my lack of resistance. Then, his teeth slowly pierced my neck.
I did not feel anything at first... until a warm and smooth energy slowly entered my body and slowly reached my heart.
It was like fireworks had been set in my soul. My mind instantly went blank as my body trembled. On the base of my neck, I felt a scorching pain as if something was being tattooed on it.
I felt hot and cold at the same time. It was like my soul was burning, yet my body was freezing cold. At one point, it had become almost unbearable and my body felt like breaking.
Lewis' warm arms enveloped around my body, giving me comfort and protection. I bit my lower lip and leaned towards him for support.
Suddenly, I heard my wolf howl and the painful feeling stopped. Right away, a comfortable energy washed inside my body and I sighed in relief.
'Ylva...' I worriedly called for my wolf. 'Are you alright?'
My wolf softly howled, indicating that she was fine... even happy. I sighed.
'We made it,' I told her. 'Hopefully... we will be safer now.'
Suddenly, I felt fingers brushing through my hair and I suddenly felt nervous.
A mark is a symbol of a lifetime promise and proclamation. From the moment that I allowed his mark on me, I already belonged to Lewis. And even though I would not feel the mating bond that I felt with my destined mate, starting from that moment, Lewis would be my partner... the other half of my life.
It was like a werewolf marriage…. And I just got married to Lewis, the alpha of the Pack of Talascar… the most mysterious werewolf in the lower realm.
Lewis did not take his arms that were surrounding my body and I could still feel his hot breath on my face, indicating how close we were together.
'We look like real lovers,' I thought to myself before my heartbeat became faster. The realization of our current position made me even more flustered. And Lewis definitely made it even worse when he suddenly touched my nose with his finger before saying, "That's a good girl."
CHAPTER SIX
ADELIA
My lower lip trembled and I could not help but raise my hands and shield my face, covering my embarrassed expression.
"Hmm?" I heard Lewis say before I felt him tucking some strands of my hair behind my ear. "What is the matter?" He gently asked. I instantly felt more embarrassed.
I planned for a long time and yet... I put myself in a situation where I did not know what to do and say.
So I just stayed quiet... and hoped that everything would pass.
Thankfully, the moon goddess seemed to answer my prayer because suddenly, we heard a low and powerful growl... indicating the arrival of a royalty.
"He's here," I heard Lewis say before letting me go. I secretly took a sigh of relief.
"You better go to the Hall now," Lewis told me.
All of the wolves must pay respect to the royalty of the wolves, and the howl earlier was a summon for everyone to immediately gather and greet him.
I took my hands off my still warm face and looked at Lewis before nodding.
Lewis stared at my face without any expression before he told me, "My mark will cover your scent and that punk will not recognize you. Go along."
Lewis' dark eyes were impassive but looking at them gave my heart calmness and reassurance. I nodded before turning around and walking back to the Pack Hall.
In fact, I wanted to ask him when I would meet him again and what was our plan from now on but when I looked into his eyes, I decided not to.
'I decided to be with him... so I should trust him,' I told myself as I made my way towards the Pack Hall.
There was an obvious change when I arrived there. Even though they sneered at me, the warriors who were guarding the entrance did not dare to hinder my entrance anymore.
I blinked my eyes as I stared at the high ceilings and beautifully decorated Hall. Even when I already saw the Pack Hall in my visions, it was the first time that I personally experienced being inside of it.
The pack where I belonged, the Pack of Emoresi, was also one of the largest and strongest packs after the royal family. Aside from that, the pack has produced many powerful and talented wolves in history, and so it obtained the respect of other packs.
'It's too bad... this pack had become more power hungry... to the point where its alpha could kill his own mate and absorb her wolf just to be stronger,' I thought to myself.
'Anyway... they all look so beautiful,' I thought as I looked around the wolves surrounding me.
Because the prince was arriving, everyone was donned in their best clothings, and they all looked sparkling.
I looked down at the tattered clothes and suddenly felt embarrassed.
'I wasn't worried about my clothes earlier. But now that I am inside and surrounded by everyone who looks dazzling... I felt ashamed all of the sudden,' I held my hands together and stood at the hidden corner of the room.
It was crowded. Except the alphas, all of the pack members of the five packs in the area were present in the gathering. Laughter and excitement filled the room as everyone awaited for the arrival of the prince.
A few minutes later, Alec, our alpha, and three other alphas entered the room. The room fell into silence and everyone paid their attention to the four approaching powerful figures. I subconsciously lowered my head and took a step backwards to hide myself in the shadow.
'Lewis marked me. But... will that be enough to hide my scent from Alec?' I worriedly thought.
The four alphas arrived and everyone paid their respects towards them. I anxiously watched them from the side. Thankfully, all of them, especially Alec, did not look in my direction. When I saw them walking straight towards the center of the Hall where their designated chairs were placed without paying attention to other things, I sighed in relief.
'Seems like the mark works.' I gently touched my mark. 'I wonder... when will I see Lewis again...' I thought. In my visions, even though he went here to greet the prince, Lewis did not attend the gathering and the wolves did not even catch a glimpse of him.
