I should be wary of him, I really should—but I find everything about him fascinating!
My gaze lingered on him, his light green eyes and that keen gaze; sharp and perceptive, as if he could see through anything!
Those perfectly full and inviting pink lips looked like they could both comfort and ignite passion with one kiss.
And that sculpted body, just imagining the warmth of his skin and the strength in his arms made me feel guilty.
Ah, I am such a sinner!
Someone, please punish me for how far I have fallen!
It’s no wonder I barely hesitated when he proposed a contract marriage.
“Staring again, huh? Should I feel flattered or suspicious?” His icy voice snapped me back into reality.
A flush of embarrassment crept over my face as I tore my eyes away.
What am I doing?
We just met, and I’m already thinking like this. I have to focus!
“I was just thinking we should go to the mansion to get my dad's body...so I can bury him,” I lied, as I speedwalked to the church's exit.
“Is that really what you were thinking about?” he asked, his eyes narrowed as he caught up with me effortlessly.
“O-Of course. I need to say my final goodbye to Dad.” A pang of sorrow hit me, and guilt settled in as I recognized I’d barely thought of Dad until this moment."
He side-stepped me, pushing the door open.
The rain was just a drizzle now, it misted the air, making everything feel calm and damp.
"Come on, do I have to drag you to move?” He looked irritated, as he beckoned on me with a finger.
He started tapping his wrist as if signaling the passing time.
I picked up my pace, grumbling, “Why are you in such a rush? It's not like you hailed a taxi.”
He asked me with his brows creased, “Why would I need a taxi, when my car is right there?” gesturing to a Black Badge Rolls-Royce Wraith car.
I gasped in admiration—Dad, who was a Rolls Royce enthusiast, would’ve loved it.
The car moved towards us and rolled to a stop.
The driver hastily approached, fumbling as he opened the door. "P-Pardon me, Sir," he stuttered nervously.
Niall sighed, his tone laced with a hint of reproach “No need to be so jittery all the time, Edmund. You’ll embarrass me in front of my fiancée if you keep this up."
Edmund bowed his head apologetically, “Please don’t be upset, it won’t happen again Sir!”
Niall dismissed him with a wave, and the driver retreated a few steps back respectfully.
As he turned toward me, his stony voice broke out “Unless you’re glued to the pavement, get in,” Niall said, sounding impatient.
I got in without protest, deciding not to provoke him after seeing how Edmund fidgeted nervously, desperate to keep him pleased.
Edmund shut the door then scurried to his seat.
I took my phone out, opening the GPS app as soon as the car glided down the road.
But I noticed we weren't heading toward the mansion.
Should I be worried?
My stomach tightened as I asked, “Mr. Blackstone, where are we going?”
“Do you really want to go there looking like a wreck? Even if you are one, there's no need to show it," His voice dripping with contempt. “I’m taking you to a mall.”
He gave me a disdainful look, then shut his eyes as if looking at me was exhausting.
He is so rude and conceited.
I pursed my lips as I turned to the tinted window.
Ten minutes later, we arrived. As I stepped out I looked at Niall expecting he would join me, but he remained seated.
He opened one eye and shooed me off, signaling for me to go alone.
I made sure to slam the door forcefully, causing a loud bang that startled Edmund as I wrenched the handle from his hand.
A sales attendant, Tiana, greeted me warmly and explained they were about to close, but stayed open after their manager got a call from Mr. Blackstone.
Talk about flexing his big-boy muscles.
“Thank you for staying open so late. I feel bad for keeping you all here.” I tell her.
Tiana smiled reassuringly saying, “It’s no problem at all. We’re here to make sure you leave looking as stunning as possible.”
Three stylists—Vanessa, Mia, and Chloe—ushered me into a dressing room.
Vanessa, a brown-eyed blonde, held up a black satin A-line evening dress with a thigh-high slit and spaghetti straps. "I think it’ll look perfect on you.” her face in beams as she looks at me.
I smiled politely as I say, “That’s exactly what I need," even though slits weren’t my style.
Chloe, with her copper curls, helps me slip on sparkly stilettos with black fluffy fur on the open toes. “These heels will tie the whole look together, don’t you think?”
You should have asked before thrusting them on my feet!
“Oh, they’re surprisingly comfortable,” I murmured, adjusting to the high heels.
After I changed, Mia sits me down and undid my boho bun. “Let’s get this hair back in shape. I’ll dry it out and style it into something elegant,” assuring me as takes the pearls out of my hair.
Mia proceeds to dry my hair, twisting sections into a half-up, half-down flower bun, and added diamond twister studs. “There, a little shine to complement the dress," nodding at her work.
“Thank you.” I mouth, looking at her through the mirror. She responded with a smile that showed the gap in her front tooth.
Then Chloe appeared to measure my finger. “Mr. Blackstone asked us to find the perfect ring size. Let’s see… how about one of these?” she explained as she brings some rings over.
After I examined the four options Chloe presented, I chose a pear-cut solitaire with a rose-gold band, and Chloe slipped it onto my finger with a grin.
Next, Vanessa approached with face wipes to refresh my makeup. She tutted as she removed the tear-streaked foundation, then applied a light layer.
“And for the finishing touch…” she says with a flourish as she adds rhinestones along the cat-eye wings.
My cheeks hurt from smiling as gazed in the mirror, “I look so foxy and glamorous. You all are incredible!”
Mia nods her espresso brown hair, “Glad you love it. You look absolutely radiant.” she said softly.
Vanessa and Chloe cooed in agreement.
“It was a pleasure, Ms. Riona,” Tiana said as she escorted me to the door, waving as I left.
I thanked Tiana once more before she disappeared into the boutique.
Catching my reflection in the mall's glass doors, I saw myself looking like a stunning model—my 6'2" frame standing even taller with the extra three inches from my heels.
When I stepped out, Edmund gasped. He scrambled to open the car door for me, and I slid in.
I can't wait to see how stone boy reacts, feast on my beauty!
He eyes went through me like twin bullets, giving a curt nod, he confessed “Not bad.”
A smug smile spread across my lips.
I was eager to see how Livia would react when she sees I snagged Niall Blackstone, the minute she tossed me out.
And Pavlo, I'll make him realize he's better off without Livia.
This will be the highlight of my day!
