Celeine and Christina met in middle school.  They became friends and went through high school together.  By the time this story takes place, they have graduated high school and started college.  Celeine wants to be a writer.  Christina wants to be a computer programmer.  They both started college straight out of high school in the fall.  The year was 1996 and Christina was the youngest of the two.   Christina was a shy country bumpkin.  She had been raised by older parents and didn't know anything about doing the normal teenage things.  Christina had never been noticed much.  All through school, she had been made to feel like she was nothing.  All Christina had ever known was her parents.  Christina had siblings but they were actually only half siblings.  She was an only child between her parents together.  They both had children through previous relationships before they had gotten together and had her. It wasn't unlike Celeine to have a boyfriend. And as normal, no one ever noticed Christina.  She was a plain jane kind of girl.  Celeine was a tanned beauty in her own mind.  The reality was that she was just easy.  That was why all the guys liked her.  Christina was more laid back.  She was the total opposite of Celeine.  That is why they made such good friends.  As this story begins, you the reader will see that even friends have to be careful when it comes to love. Celeine meets Kyle within a few days of starting college and she wants to introduce him to her friend just like she did with all of her boyfriends.  Celeine knew that Christina was a plain jane and unlikely to catch anyone's attention.  For the first few weeks of college, she is enjoying her new boyfriend and is constantly telling Christina about him.  Finally, Christina gets tired of not having a face to put with the name.  So Christina tells Celeine that she believes it is time for her and Kyle to meet.
