CHAPTER 2:

Brooke's POV I ran As fast as my legs could carry me. I grabbed my bag and bolted out of the room. No I didn't hit Alan, hell I couldn't even afford the luxury to. Luckily he wasn't following me, maybe he was still in shock I ran to my room, unlocked the door and slammed it shut after I got in, collapsing on the floor as I tried to catch my breath What the hell was all that? Ivy wasn't home, she'd just left the room not quite long ago. It was evident from the way her personal items and dresses were strewn over her bed. I stood up and walked to her bed. I picked up a red dress and held it against me, staring at the mirror and trying to mentally picture if it would flatter me or not. A sudden bang on the door suddenly jolted me back to reality. The dress slipped from my hands, and my heart beat quadrupled. “Brooke, it's me. Open up”. I reached into Ivy's drawer and pulled out a kitchen knife. Alan had followed me right to my own room. The creep had followed me right to my own dorm room. My neighbors were blasting their loud music again tonight, Lamar being the top artist, and there was no way they were going to hear this. “Brooke, open the door, we need to talk”. “Go away”. “This is important. If you don't, I'm going to have to break this lock”. I gasped, my brain frantically searching for the next right quick answer He began pulling down the handle vigorously, and I knew he was going to keep to his word. I rushed forward and pulled the door open. He hadn't expected it so he stumbled right in, crashing into me. He was able to stabilize himself on time, and instead, he had me against the wall and not the ground. He closed the door and locked it, his eyes still fixed on my face I could hear Mel whispering a bit louder now and doing a little happy jig. Our mate. My breath was slowly evening out, but I still felt trapped in his strong biceps, placed flat on the wall, holding me in. “What are you ?” “Nothing, I'm just a regular human student trying to run my day and then some dude shows up in it and is asking what I am”. “Stop lying about this, Brooke." “I'm not lying about anything at all." “You're a liar, Brooke. Scents don't lie neither do your eyes. What are you and where are you from?” I bit the corner of my lips, contemplating on what to do next. He'd gotten everything, possibly had all the information there to have. “You're from Webb's pack. Garett Rye? Aren't you?” I feel a sudden chill in my bones but I don't say anything to him; instead, I look up and stare at his handsome face. The man he was asking was a miserable dim wit and I didn't want to identify with him anyway “Why are you here? What are you trying to achieve exactly?” He probed. Mel was trying to pop up again but I wouldn't let her. I started controlling my thoughts and willing things to be done my own way I half shrugged and looked at Alan. He sighed in exasperation and went on to give me a recount of everything he knew about me. I was stunned. After he was done, he looked at me, and I still stared right back at him. “Now I want to know why you're here”. “I'm more comfortable here. My origin has always been one I don't understand myself. I just came to College so I could get my degree and nothing else”. He inched in, and I involuntarily closed my eyes, feeling his breath on my neck. My wolf was whispering the words, Mate as I felt him come closer. “Do you hear it too? Do you hear them, Brooke? I can't answer because I don't know whose mouth is on whose. The next thing I could remember was kissing him furiously, and his hands traveling along my waist. Our breaths became more ragged and he had me against the wall, kissing and biting softly, with my moans bouncing off the walls. He spun me around and placed me on my bed, my eyes hazy with desire. I reached out to unbutton his shirt, and suddenly it snapped. I quickly scrambled away from him. “Jeez, what are we doing? Go away!” “You clearly know what we're doing here, Brooke." “You have to leave, my roommate will be back soon. We can talk about this later You have to go”. He studied me for a while and then took two steps back towards the door. “So you're a lone wolf. You should have reported to me, as the Alpha”. I chuckled, in spite of myself, “Yeah, right, I don't answer to anyone unfortunately”. There was a brief silence, and I had my back turned to him. “You feel it, don't you? The bond. You know… “Oh no, this was definitely a mistake, Alan, a big one. I crushed on you, possibly couldn't control hormones. You know pheromones and all, and that happened. I apologize for that, it won't happen again. Now, please leave before Ivy comes back." He stared at me for what seemed like forever, and I watched his jaw tighten as I fiddled with the ropes of my hoodie. He turned around and opened the door. He paused in the doorway. “You know about the girl investigating werewolves on campus, don't you? She's getting closer, and I'd say it's getting too dangerous for her. Tell her to step away or she'd risk being silenced. Forever”. He slammed the door shut, and I sat on my bed, still feeling jittery and trying to process everything that had just happened. The kiss was still lingering in my head, and I sighed softly as my fingers traced the hickeys he'd made on my neck. Mates. That was impossible Tell her to step away…getting closer….silenced. There was only one person who had that crazy notion and was actively pursuing it My blood ran cold. Holy Mary, no! Poppy Sarla. The girl who always sits down next to me in Organic Chemistry class It couldn't be…
