Chapter 7

Raela POV

I just walked into the door and head for the elevator. I smile to myself. I can't believe I just spent most of the day with Gavin. He's amazing. But I know he's bad news. But maybe not. I don't know. Everything I've heard about him, and always seeing him with different girls. But today. Today he was so sweet to me. And that's all that matters. He was sweet to me and I can't wait until next time. 

I get to the second floor and go knock on Ashley's door. She yells for me to just come in. I walk in and she's sitting on the couch changing James. I go sit on her loveseat. 

"Hey, so what's up? Is something wrong with baby j?" I ask

"Oh no. He's fine. I wanted to talk to you about today." Ashley says, putting him down on the floor with his toys "I saw you with Gavin and I just want you to be careful. He will use you and throw you away." 

"He was really sweet to me today. I think I'm fine. Thank you for your concern though. " I say politely. 

"Rae, I'm telling you from experience. Stay away from him. He will take advantage of you, have s*x with you then leave you high and dry."

"Well. It's a good thing I'm not having s*x with him then isn't it? I don't plan on having s*x for a long time. I don't just go around have s*x with just anyone. " I say a bit irritated

I refuse to let her ruin this for me. 

"Raela, I don't either. But I did…" Ashely trails off "it doesn't matter. You know what you're doing. So forget I said anything. I care about you like a little sister. I just don't want to see you hurt. But I gotta get to Paddy's, I'm already running late"

"Okay, anyway. What time did he last eat?" I ask

"My brother said he fed him last at 1:30. So he probably will need a snack soon. Then dinner at 7 as usual. And can you give him a bath? I didn't get to in the time I been home. Picking up this shift at Paddy's. What's your plan for today?" Ashley asks

"Okay cool. We are gonna get totally crazy. Probably just gonna watch some movies on the couch, play with some blocks. Then a lavender bath before bed." I say getting in the floor playing with James

"Okay" Ashley says grabbing her keys off of the table by the door

Ashley rushes over and squats down to give James a kiss 

"Thanks for coming last minute Raela" Ashely says as she heads out the door. 

"It's just us now James. What do you wanna do? Throw a party?" I ask James and he just babbles and smiles 

"Okay wild party it is!" I say as I reach over and tickle him. 

I pick James up and take him and sit him in his pack and play while I go to the kitchen and grab a jar of baby food out of the cabinet. 

I go to the living room and grab Baby J out of his pack and play and get him in the high chair.

“Yummy peas” I say to James as I open the jar

I feed him about half the jar and he's done, so I wipe his mouth and we get back on the floor. I turn on the TV to play children’s music. I make sure James is all set up and I pull my phone out to text Gavin

Me- Hey its Raela

Gavin- Hey hows everything?

Me- Good. Uh I just want you to know from the start I don’t plan on having s*x with you. So if that’s all you want, I don’t want to waste your time.

I know I probably shouldn’t have said it like that but I can’t get what Ashley said out of my mind. And I don’t want to waste is time or mine if that's all he's interested in

Gavin- Raela thats not what I’m interested in with you. I had actual fun today. Where did all this come from?

Me- Ashley told me you only wanted s*x and once you got it you woukd leave me. Not that we are tpgether or anything. But still. Yeah

Gavin- I should have known she would have something to say. Can we meet up after you’re done babysitting and talk in person? 

Me- I dont get dont get done til 10. I have to go staright home after.

Gavin- Ok then I’ll meet you there and take you home. 

Me- Okay, just make sure Ashley doesn’t see you. 

Gavin- ok, see you tonight

With that I put my phone down and started playing with James. He seems to be getting a little sleepy so I grab a blanket and pick him up. We go lay on the couch together and I put on ‘Alice Through the Looking Glass’ and within half an hour he fell asleep. I take him to his room and lay him in his crib. 

I take the time that he is asleep to call Anna and tell her about today and ask for advice

‘Hey” Anna answers her phone

“Hey. Help me” I say ask soon as she answers

“Uh okay whats up? She asks

“So you know I hung out with Gavin today. But Ashley saw us and acted weird. Then she asked me to babysit at the last minute. But she wanted me to come over early so we could talk. She wanted to talk about Gavin” I explain

“Okay. What about Gavin?” Anna asks curiously

“She basically told me to stay away from him because he is only going to use me for s*x. And that she is speaking from experience.”

“So is she just jealous and she likes him still? Or is she really looking out for you?” Anna asks.

“Dude I don’t f**king know. Like I want to think she is really looking out for me. But the way she acted at Luke’s I don’t know. But the way he acted to me today, definitely didn’t make me think he was looking for s*x. He didn’t even try to kiss me. So what do I do?”

“Have you talked to him about it?”

“Ugh” I groan “No. I just texted him saying that I don’t want to have s*x with him and if thats all he’s interested in, then we are wasting each others time.” I say

“Well, have you thought about trying to talk to him about it and get his side of the story?” Anna says

“Yeah, he is picking me up when I’m done here and walking me home and we will talk then. But I’m nervous” I confess

“It’ll be okay. Just talk and try to hear both sides. But also you aren’t her. It doesn’t matter how he treated her. What matters is how he treated you. And you said he treated you nice. So keep that in mind too.” Anna says logically. 

I hear James babbling in his room

“Yeah I’ll try” I say “But the baby is awake so I’ll text you tonight”

“Okay, later love” Anna says

I go grab James from his crib and change him. We sit back and finish watching Alice. Then I get James his dinner then his bath. I take him to his room and sit in the rocking chair and read him a little book and put him to bed. 

I go back to the livingroom and turn on Supernatural waiting for Ashley to get home. 

I text Gavin 

Me- Hey Ashley should be home within the next half hour? Are you still coming?

Gavin- Yep getting ready to leave now

I finish Supernatural and check the time and its 9:45. I start to put my shoes on and hear my phone ding. 

Gavin- I’m here. 

Me- Ok as soon as she gets here I will be out.

Just as I hit send Ashley comes in the door. I give her the rundown of the day with James.

“I’m happy he was easy for you today. Do you need a ride home?” Ashley asks

“No thanks. I’m gonna walk home.” I say “So I better head out so I can make it home before 10:30” And I’ll see you next weekend?” 

“Yeah” Ashley says from the kitchen “Be careful walking home. Bye”

“Bye” I say walking out the door pulling it shut behind me.

I pull out my phone and send Gavin a quick text letting him know I’m on my way out and I get into the elevator.
