THE RUN AWAY BRIDE

ESCAPE

Demmy could not sleep well, she locked her self in her room, and told Tolani everything while crying, she cried herself to sleep.

The next day Anike came to wake her daughter up, Demmy obeyed quietly because she knew that any form of escape will cause her father to hurt her mother, and that was the last thing she wanted, she bathe quietly and followed her mother to the car, they were all quiet through out the ride. Demmy was surprised to see that there were people there, when did they plan all these? since when? she asked herself and smiled in pain.

she was taken to the dressing room, in the room her father collected her phone, her bags and everything that could aid her escape. he saw to it that she was dressed and ready before he left. when the makeup artist were done, they left Demmy alone to think. Demmy stood up immediately and began to pace around the room

"I have to do something fast, but what?"

she walked from here to there

"Tolani can not help me for sure, so what do I do now? I can't end up like my mother, never"

After series of thoughts she went to the window side, she looked at the people downstairs, it was a massive crowd, Demmy, feared what her future will be with that old man

"oh no, no no no no, Jesus please help me, I can't even imagine that man on me, I don't even know him... what if I jump down? ohh I'll break my legs and will still get married to the man... oh I know, I'll behave mad, they'll take me to the psychiatric clinic and I'll have to stay with mad people, it's better than living with the old man from ever"

Demmy imagined herself with mad people and the nurse comes in to administer drugs to them, and she was ruthlessly injected, she shook the thought out of her head

"madness might not really work now, the what? "

she looked around again, and saw the window. she looked at the window for a long time and smiled, suddenly the doore opened, and she flinched

it was her mother, she walked in and locked the door from the back.

"maami please I beg you don't let me get married please' Demmy knelt down on her knees.

"of course yes my dearest, I can never let you live the life that I lived" she pulled Demmy up and held her close to her

"listen to me, you are strong, brave, confident and God-fearing just like your mother, you are your mother's daughter, I know you have found a way to escape, so take this and don't look back, no matter what happens to me don't look back kr come back" she gave her an atm card

" this is the only thing I could steal from you father, I couldn't get clothes or bags, so now escape, go somewhere far from here. "

Demmy nodded and hugged her mother tight

then she took the bedspread in the room she LA's locked in and tied it to one of the windows burglary, she looked down through the window and saw that no one was there, so she threw the bedspread till it touched the ground floor, she went back to kiss her mother good bye

"when you are settled wherever you are, call me okay! I'll be expecting the call." Anike said with a sad smile and left the room, then she locked.

Demmy used the bedspread as a rope to get downstairs. She quitely tip toed to the gate side, but the security men were there, she became perplexed immediately and didn't know what I do, just then, her mother came to the security men and called them in to eat, the gluttons happily followed, only then could Demmy escape, she ran as fast as she could without any shoes on..

When it was time to bring the bride, her father went up to get his daughter, since he is o walk down the aisle with her. On getting the room, he saw no one, empty bathroom, empty closet, he became sweaty all of a sudden. later her saw the window and met it opened, he was greatly vexed

he punched the burglary and drew the cloth back in, then her laid the bed back and rumpled the sheets of the bed to make it look like someone fought on the bed. He scratched the walls with his nails and broke the door handle. Then he ran downstairs looking worried

he opened the door of the hall and shouted

"help me ooooo, my daughter is missing, she has gone missing oooo, ehhh"

Mr Bello a man in his early fifties, rich and good looking ran to Demmy's father, Dare, Daniel and David did the same thing, Anike smiled in disbelief, this man is just impossible, she also decided to play along and act, she ran to him amd squeezed his chest, the guards ran to the room and found that her was right,

immediately the hall was filled with confusion, screaming and wailing. Mr Bello had to do something so he can think well, he went to the choir unit to pick the Microphone

"we are so sorry to announce this, but the wedding is cancelled, pls go home till further notice. Thank you so much" After speaking he left the Church with Demmy's family and his guards to his car they went, except Dare and his father

"go and look for your sister, she wasn't kidnapped, she escaped, i made It look like she was kidnapped to avoid Mr Bello's anger"

Dare nodded and left. Demmy's father went back to the car and gave excuses for Dare's absence.

Demmy ran to the bus station and entered the first bus she saw she didn't even bother to check the bus' destination, she sat down at the back seat, breathing and sweating profusely, she didn't know that they were all looking at her, is she a bride or what? or is this a movie? where is her bag? and why is she wearing a wedding gown? The people ignored her and minded their businesses.

when the bus was full, the journey started, just then did Demmy realise that she is was free, she escaped successfully. After few hours of mind celebration, Demmy realise that she didn't know where she was going to.

"hello madam" She called on the woman seated beside her

"yes?" she looked at Demmy

"please where is this bus heading to?"

the woman was dumbstruck,

"how will you not know where the bus you boarded is heading to?"

she did not bother to hide her confusion.

"I was in a hurry so I couldn't check'

"well this is an Abuja bus ooo" she woman said still surprised

"Abuja?"

Demmy pupils dilapidated.
