Chapter 8No Comebacks
After the escape of Mitra and the rebels, the new unit of Imperial soldiers arrive in the Ghost City, and stand outside the entry gate. The Admiral feels guilty about how he betrayed many rebels over the years—to the Imperials—many of them were his own people. He feels weak—the frustration is tearing him apart now. After seeing Gayatri, fighting the rebellion a dagger stabs his heart and mind. He is thinking about his children and the safety of his wife. He feels hopeless.
He sees the approaching troops and shouts in a weak voice, “You are so late!”
Stella comes from behind, “I saw them… going towards the Neutral Territory!”
“We can’t catch them, now!”
“Why?”
“We need the aircraft!”
He turns to the troops, “Where is the bloody aircraft?”
