I Got The Job

Sierra: After leaving the restroom I hope back to my table our food was already there which I was glad about. I wasn't really in the mood for this anymore I just wanted to go back to bed but I put on my best fake smile as we continued to talk about nothing and eat. A short time later we was heading to the mall I didn't really need anything but it wouldn't hurt to look maybe I will find a few new things for myself. The first store we go to is a out of my price range while Tabitha doesn't have to worry about prices so much so she just pick ups items to try on without looking at the tags. The next one is more my speed I don't like trying on clothes so I pick up a few things and walk around for a bit while she try's on hers. For most of the day we just plunder around until it's late afternoon and I'm starving neither of us has eaten since breakfast so we head to the local burger joint before going home. The next morning I get up a few minutes before my alarm I decide to get up and piece my new clothes together then I take a quick shower and head out. Stopping for coffee on the way to class as I walk through the door my phone rings it's the administrative office for my internship I step back out the door and answer the phone. Hello I answer the lady on the other end introduces herself as Samantha the assistant to Ms. Brantley who is the head of the schools internship committee, " Ms. Brantley would like to set up a meeting with you about your internship." " How soon would she like to meet?" I heard shuffling on the other end like papers moving around " She got some time in twenty minutes if you can make that work if not it will be tomorrow morning." I thought about it for a second I've never skipped class so would it really hurt if I missed one? " okay I can be there in fifteen minutes." Hanging up the phone I run to my car hop in hoping traffic want be bad. I speed walk into the building hoping I don't end up sweaty and stinky that would not be a good impression. I arrive in the office with three minutes to spare I run my hands down my rumble clothes trying to straighten them out a bit no suck luck. The receptionist looks up as I approach " Hey I'm Sierra I have a meeting with Ms. Brantley." " She's waiting for you head on in." Opening the door I notice a lady in a business suit sitting on the other side of the table not bothering to look up at first this should be interesting. "Hello I'm Sierra." " I know who you are please shut the door and have a seat." Walking toward my seat my nerves kick in I'm thinking there is no way she's giving me the position maybe I should save myself the humiliation and just leave. " I will cut to the chase we would like to offer you the position here as a teachers assistant. I'll be honest your appearance today is a little concerning but some of the other members of the committee thinks you will be a good fit so you will be on a thirty day trail. If for some reason I see you as unfit we will have to find a more qualified person to fill the position. Samantha at the front desk has some papers we need you to fill out before you can start." Wanting to run out of the room before she changed her mind I thanked her and went to the front desk to fill out the paperwork. I sat in empty chair out of the way deciding I didn't want to make another trip up here I filled them out turned them in and left. By the time I arrived back at school there was only five minutes left in class so I started towards my next class before I got to far someone called my name I looked back and it was Parkers dad. I stopped so he could catch up " so I heard you got the internship congratulations." " yes thanks to you but I don't think Ms. Brantley likes me very much." "She doesn't like anyone really so I wouldn't worry to much. I guess I will see you around then." I smiled " I guess you will." hearing the doors started to open just before he turned to leave I placed my hand on his arm " Thanks again I don't think I would have gotten it without you." Looking up I noticed Parker looking straight at us I let my smile dropped as though I had been caught barely hearing Bennett say " It was my pleasure I like to help when I can." I watch as Parker storms out the school.
