Following the money trail. Back by tonight. Don't do anything reckless without me.
I smiled despite everything. As if I'd wait for permission to be reckless.
My phone buzzed. Katherine.
Katherine: School students arrive today. I know you have a war to prepare for, but do they need to meet their Alpha? 10 AM?
Right. The school. In everything that had happened, I'd almost forgotten we were expecting the first group of young daughters.
Me: I'll be there.
I dressed carefully, choosing clothes that projected strength without being intimidating. The young daughters would be nervous enough without their Alpha looking like she was heading into battle.
