Chapter Two

1238 Words
"Mami do you believe in true love," Camila asked her mother who was sitting across the dinner table. Sinhue stops chewing on her food for a moment and furrows her eyebrows. "Of course Mija, what would make you ask such a thing like that," she asks. "Oh um no reason", Camila says as she plays with her food on the plate. "Is this about him", Alejandro asks. Camila furrows her eyebrows in confusion before remembering her younger sister is present. "No Papi, I just... Just curious is all," Camila says sadly. Alejandro is obviously curious about what is concerning his eldest daughter but now is not the time to press the issue, so he nods and continues eating his meal. The next few minutes are silent. Camila is in too deep of thought to eat. She is an awful curious creature, like her father and somehow the mirror isn't enough. She wants to know about her destined lover. Eager to fall in love. "May I be excused," Camila says abruptly. Sinhue and Alejandro share a glance before nodding. Camila races off to her room and sits down on her bed. With a deep sigh, she looks outside her window and looks down at the people. Everything is the same as usual, until two figures on a horse race through the town. She can't make out the first person but she can clearly see a little boy on the back smiling and laughs. She giggles at the cute sight. Camila sighs and opens the drawer by her bed and starts to pull out the small necklace. She pushes it back when her door starts to open revealing her mother. "May I," her mother asks softly. Camila nods with a weak smile. Sinhue sits down on the bed next to Camila. "I know that you're young Camila, but if there is a certain boy you have your eye on, we can arrange a marriage," she says. This caught Camila off guard. She never paid much attention to the boys, it was girls who she spent most of her time admiring. She always thought she just wanted to be like them. But now she is questioning if that's all. "No, there isn't anyone", Camila says. "Well, your father and I think its time you find someone," her mother smiles. "w-what do you mean," Camila stutters. "It's time you get out of this place," her mother giggles. "Of course there will be rules and things of that sort, but a few hours a day wouldn't-", Sinhue is cut off by her daughter engulfing her in a warm hug making her chuckle. ~~~~ {Your Point Of Veiw} "Y/n, I need you to go into town and run the cart for today. Your mother and I need to travel across the forest. It will a 2 days journey," my father explains. "But father what about Julian", I ask. "Romeo will look after him", he says. "I don't trust him with Julian papa I'm the only one who knows what he needs," I plead. "No, you have to be the one to do this for me y/n. Please understand, you're older! Julian will be fine," my father kisses my head before leaving with my mother. "Romeo, I will be back for dinner, you need to feed and groom Julian while I am gone", I say sternly. He nods and I kiss his cheek and ruffle his hair before wheeling the cart out the door. I have to walk about a mile to get into town. It's a long bumpy road, and I struggle to keep the fruit from falling. One almost fall but a light brown skin girl catches it. I look up at her face and my jaw drops. The princess! "T-thank you ma'am", I bow my head at her. "Oh it was no problem, I assure you," she giggles. For some reason, I smile at the sound although I'm not really sure why. "If you don't mind my asking, what is your highness doing out here in the woods," I ask curiously. "Call me Camila", she giggles again. "I just wanted to take a walk is all", she says. "I see", I say. "Where are you headed", she asks with an adorable grin. Did I just call her adorable? "U-um I'm just going into town, to sell these", I explain and motion to the fruit. "I should be getting back there anyway, and I sure would love some Company", she bites her lip. "I-I could accompany you", I stutter. Why do I keep doing that?!?! "I would like that a lot", she says. I smile at the brunette and blush a little. "So, I never saw you in town before," Camila says. "Well your high- Camila I mean," I catch myself. "Usually my parents are the ones who do the selling, my brother and I typically do the farming." "You have a brother," she asks. "Yes, Romeo, he's quite the lad," I smile. "How old is he," Camila giggles. "Eleven," I tell her. "Really? How old are you", she asks curiously. "Sixteen", I say. "Me too," she smiles. "I know, Wait, that sounded creepy", I shake my head. "It's just, your birthday is like an entire celebration," I explain. "I guess you're right, did you attend the ball," she asks making me laugh. "Oh, you're serious," I ask earning a nod from the shorter girl. "No, they wouldn't have kept me within 10 yards of the palace! All I have to wear are these old rags, I would have made a complete fool of myself," I laugh. "Stop that! Not having expensive clothes doesn't make you any less worthy to attend a ball! It is open to everyone," Camila says in shock. "You may want to tell that to your guards", I sigh. "Oh trust me, I will," she huffs. I smile to myself. she seems so bothered about this, she really is a sweet girl... "Would you like to come back to my palace? If it's your clothes that bother you so much, I shall get you new ones," Camila smiles at me. "Really? You would do that for me? A stranger you just met", I ask confused. "Well, maybe this is my way of asking this stranger to be my new friend," she smirks. "I-I um okay," I stutter. "Then it's settled," she declares proudly. "But wait, I can't do it today," I frown. "Why not," she pouts. "I have fruit to sell," I huff. "I will take care of it, trust me on this," she pleads. Her eyes are soft and gentle. She has the most chocolatey orbs I have ever seen, they compliment her skin tone nicely. The small pout playing on her lips makes me want to do something but I can't tell what exactly so I shrug it off. "What do you mean by taking care of it," I ask. "I will have my guards charge top dollar for every piece of fruit you carry, and all you have to do is come with me," she wraps her arm around my shoulder. "Well, I guess it should be okay", I decide. "Yay", Camila squeals making me giggle. "C' mon then, I have someone for you to meet", she says as she tugs on my arm. "Wait", she stops. "You never told me your name", she realizes. "Y/n, my name is Y/n", I say with a warm smile.
