Nighttime in the hospital always seemed like primetime for Landon’s brain to stir up memories. He lay listening to the sounds in the hallway. At least this time he wasn’t in the ICU, so he had the benefit of near darkness. Sleep was still elusive though. He wanted to get the blood off. Landon stood in the bathroom of the guest house at the estate and began stripping off his jacket and shirt. A casual glance would have indicated he was a businessman, tailored jacket, shirt, tie, dark slacks…except for the blood. Businessmen didn’t end up splattered in blood at the end of a meeting.
