At the district office Miles asked to meet the chief detective in charge of unsolved cold cases. He showed his badge to the officer at the front desk, who gave passes to all of them. Kurt Miller, about twenty years older than Miles, with weariness showing in his eyes, rose from his chair when they entered his office.
“Detective Miller, I’m Tucker and this is Cruz. We’re from the SAFD, here to talk to you about an unsolved case.”
“And what case would that be?” He looked over Miles’ shoulder at Jeff and Devin. “And who are they?”
“Witnesses, informants. You’ll hear from them in a moment. Can we?” Miles motioned at the seats.
