Itś has been over a month since the pub fight, and everything has gone back to normal. Well mostly normal anyway. Niall won't let me out from behind the bar until all the customers have gone, but whatever I'm not working there right now anyway. I just finished up my class at the college not too far from my other job at a restaurant, where I´m the assistant to the Pastry chef.
Right now itś 10:30 in the morning we are preparing everything for when the guest arrives at 11:30. I was making a salted caramel chocolate cake for today's lunch special, and not going to brag but itś turning out pretty good.
I was wearing a white chef jacket with dark red stripes with black pants, and with my hair neatly pulled back in a bun with a couple of losses curled strands. And I might also have some flour on my face.
"Aria, how much longer on that cake?" Asked Oliver. Oliver was the Pastry Chef at the restaurant who was working on the chocolate and caramel garnishingś, and I was his assistant. He was a tall man, with blue eyes, brown hair, and a graying beard.
"I'm putting the cake in now, it will be out in 30," I said, sticking it in the oven.
"Alright, do you mind helping me finish the chocolate caramel decorations,” he asked.
"Yeah, let me-" before I could finish I started to feel my phone buzz in my back pocket, "answer this call," I said, fishing out my phone, and answering the call as I stepped into the storage room. "Hello?"
"Hello, is this a Pharmacy lady," a guy said on the other end. Not going to lie he kind of sounded familiar.
"Excuse me, who is this," I asked.
"It's me, the guy from the Pharmacy. You met me and a friend about a month ago, and you told us to call you if we had any more questions about the baby stuff."
" Oh yeah...Yeah, I did say that" I said rubbing my head, I completely forgot about that to be honest, "What can I help you with?"
"Umm, the baby won't stop crying. She's been crying for over now, and we have tried everything, and she won't stop crying."
"Alright..um, what do you want me to do?" I asked to be honest.
"Come over, please," the guy pleaded, normally I wouldn't believe him, but I could hear the baby crying in the background, and a boy she did not sound happy. And if it meant I get kidn*pped while trying to help a baby well so be it.
"OK, send me the address," I said, sighing, leaving a 2 guyś with a crying baby does not sound like a good idea, telling you the truth.
"Oh, thank you. I will text you to you, just knock when you get here," he said, before abruptly hanging up.
"OK, bye then," I said sticking my phone back in my pocket before walking back into the kitchen, "Mister Oliver, I have an emergency that just came up, do you mind if I leave."
"Sure kid is everything, alright?" Oliver asked, stopping what he was doing to look at me while placing his hands on his hip.
"Yeah, for the most part, a friend is having some kid trouble so I was going to go over to help," I said, heading over to grab my bag that was hanging on a hook by the door that led out into the alleyway, before heading to the bathroom so I could change out of my work clothes.
I changed out of my work clothes and into a dark blue crop top hoodie, dark blue and red pleated skirt, and black combat boots. I head out the front door while taking out my phone to find the discretion the kid sent me. Doesn't this go to a bunch of warehouses by the Pub, I thought to myself as I started heading in that direction, And if you haven't noticed. I don't have a car. I walk or ride the bus wherever I have to go, doesn't mean I don't know how to drive it just means I can't afford one.
I dig around in my bag looking for my bus pass as I walk to the close bus stop, before getting on and heading to the other side of town. The bus dropped me off, and it almost reminded me of a scene from a show on tv, where trash would blow across the bear streets. It was kind of creepy.
I head to the street following the address to an old red warehouse that had chipping off the old white names on the side that read something like "Jackson brothers something est. 1911". I headed to the side door where the instruction was and knocked.
I heard some noise before the door opened by the curly-haired kid from last month, "Thank goodness you came. I don't think we can do the crying anymore." he said with a tired smile.
"I'm here now so let me see what's wrong," I said walking right past him and the black-haired guy from the other night into the room that looked like it used to be an office with a car seat sitting on a table. I walk over to the car seat tuning out the cries and looking in to see a crying baby girl about 3 to 4 months. Her face was red from all the crying and her little hands were in fists. She had Black hair, caramel-colored skin, and was a pink flower jumper. "Ooo, come here baby," I said, pulling her out of her seat and to my chest, before pulling her away from me.
"What is wrong?" the kid asked.
"She has a fever," I said looking at him and the black-haired guy from the other night.
"I thought she was a little warm, but I didn't think it was a fever," The curly guy said.
"Warm or not, depending on how young she is, you need to at least call a doctor and ask," I said, trying to hush her, "who is your Pediatrician?" The guys just look at each other, making me sigh. "Never mind, I know a walk-in clinic near here we can go there," I said, putting her back into the car seat after she quiets down a little.
"What do you mean we?" I turned to see a tall man with green eyes and long black hair combed back. He wore a suit with the top part of his dress shirt unbuttoned, but what stood out the most were those cat green eyeś.
"It's you!" I said with wide eyeś," You're the guy from the bar!"
Before the guy could respond another guy comeś in, "What going on here?" It was the red-haired man also from the bar buttoning up his shirt that was covering up what looked like blood splattered undershirt, but he didn't look hurt. "You're the little Lassie from the bar."
"Why are you here?" I asked if he answered didn't hear him because the baby girl started to cry again. "Oh, baby," I said, picking her up and holding her to my chest.
"Put her back," the cat-eyed man said, taking a step towards me. Which I followed taking a step back.
"What right do you have to tell me what to do?"I asked, "Anyway she needs to go to a doctor, and unless you're the guardian I'm taking her to one."
“Why you-" before he could say something or get closer the curly-haired got in between me and him.
“Hold on boss. I and Dlavio called her because Aurora was crying nonstop all day." The curly-haired kid said, "She the one we told you about from the Pharmacy remember. She also said Aurora had a fever. We were just going to follow her to the clinic."
The cat-eye guyed just sighed, "Fine will go to this clinic, but if anything happens I will kill you." he said, turning around, "Emmett go get the car with Mason, Dlavio you go on ahead." If I said that he didn't scare me that would be a lie. I let out a breath of air I didn't know I was holding, before strapping Aurora into her car seat. "Are we going or not."
I turned to see a guy with cat green eyes standing at the door with a rose pink diaper bag over his shoulder, "I'm coming." I said, picking up the car seat and heading outside, not saving him a second glance. He followed right beside me as we stepped out and headed to a black SUV parked out beside the door. The man opened the door to the back for me, and once I and the car seat were in he shut the door and went around to the other side. Emmett and Mason sat in the front while me, the baby, and the cat guy sat in the back.
“What is the address?” the redhead guy asked me if I guessed Mason, I gave Mason the address as we left the warehouse. “So, what is your name lassy?” Mason asked looking back in the rearview mirror.
“Aria,” I said in a short answer.
“Aria, well I’m Mason and the kid up here is Emmett, and the angry guy back there Is Edmundo,” Mason the one driving said.
Emmett the curly-haired kid turned towards me, "Thanks for helping us the other day and now. "
"It's nothing, " I smiled.
"Do you mind if I ask why would you help 2 random strangers? " Edmundo asked, looking at me all serious. "Or even say yes to meeting them in an abandoned warehouse site? "
"To be honest I would never do this if it was any normal thing, but I heard the baby crying in the background so yeah, " I said, shrugging my shoulders, " To be honest I kind of got that I gave them my number. " Edmundo nodded his head and didn't say anything as he went back to his phone, and started typing something in.
"So, you meet Emmett and Dlavio before you meet us at the bar? " Mason asked.
"Yeah, it all happened on the same day, " I said, looking out the window.
"Ara Aria, do you know how dumb it is to get in a middle of a bar fight!?" Mason tells back at me looking at me through the rearview mirror, making flinch, "I'm still where you got your spilt." Mason said angry lasing his voice.
"Yes, yes, I know it's dangerous. I got the same speech from Niall. There is a reason why I don't work the floor," I said folding my arms.
Mason sighed, "It sounds like you've done this more than once."
"Of course. Do you know how annoying bar fights are? I just because they're loud and dangerous, but they also create a huge mess that I have to clean up!" I said, "And instead of going home at 2. I get home at 4 and then I need to be up and out of bed by 7 so I get to school. So, I've just learned to spot them before they start so I can go home, and sleep early."
Mason sighed "Itś still stupid," he said as we pulled up to the clinic. Edmundo was the first one out of the car walking over to my side and opening the door. I handed him the car seat while I grabbed the rose-pink diaper bag that sat on the floorboard.
"Thereś a part-time Penetration here. She was very nice. I used to take my Nephew here, " I said, walking up to the front glass door with a green cross on it. I held the door open for Edmundo only noticing then that Mason also got out of the car, "Are you coming into? "
"I will go anywhere the little Princesses goes, " he said, I just nodded my head before heading in, and to the front desk. The clinic was not that big very plain with natural colors, a front desk, and a waiting area
"Excuse me, " I said getting the lady's attention, "Iḿ here for an Infant with a fever. "
"Alright then have you been here before, " the nurse asked.
"Yes, I have but the baby has not, my name Aria and the babyś Aurora "
"Alright then will you mind filling this out for me, and the doctor will be with you in a moment, " the Nurse said, handing me a clipboard and pen. I nodded my head, taking it and going sitting between Mason and Edmundo who was now holding the baby in his arms.
"Hereś the form if one of you likes to fill it out, " I said, still not knowing the babyś guardian, but if I have to guess she might be closely related to Edmundo judging by the hair, skin, and blueish-green eyeś. Edmundo took the form and reluctantly allowed me to take Aurora out of his arms.
Aurora was quite now trying to fight sleep, but probably too uncomfortable to do so. Unconsciously I kissed the top of her head when another nurse came in, "Aria and Aurora. "Me and Edumdo stood up while Mason continued sitting making no intison of getting up as we followed the nurse to a room further in the clinic, "Dr.Namy will be with you shortly. " the nurse said leaving the room.
"If you don't mind me asking who are you to Aurora? " I said, after a couple of minutes of silence.
"Iḿ her Father, " he said before I could ask any more questions the door of the room opened.
"Aria itś been a while, " a Dr.Namy said, as she came in. Dr.Namy was a tall woman with long black hair, blue eyeś, and a very big chest. She wore maroon scrubs, a white lab coat, with thin-rimmed glasses.
"Hello, Dr.NAmy it has been a while, " I said with a smile.
"Well, what then has brought you in here today? " she asked.
"My friend's baby girl has a fever, and asked me to come, " I said, as Dr.Namy comeś over taking a look while Edmundo sat quietly brooding beside me deep in thought. Dr.Namy asked a few questions which were then that he spoke up. It didn't take long for her to conclude that Aurora had an ear infection, and prescribe medicine before we were back in the car. We drove awayś before I decided I could walk from there, "I guess I'm done here, You can drop me off here. "I said, breaking the silence as we passed a few familiar buildings.
"Not Quite," Edmundo said, making really nervous, "Your jobs not done yet."
