CADEN! ~Aria’s POV~ Pain ripped through my body as I floated between light and black. A loud, threatening growl echoed nearby, and suddenly I felt strong arms wrapping around me. My wolf awoke, feeling safe, but my thoughts were confused. An elegant voice whispered into my ear, "You're going to be fine," "Stay with me." I forced my heavy eyes open and blinked at the light. Instead of the wooden floor where the rogues had attacked me, I was in a charming cottage bedroom. The guest from the trees, a huge figure, sat next to me. "Where am I?" It was as if I had swallowed glass. "Safe." His blue eyes caught me, strong and unbreakable. “Don't get yourself worked up. You'll be fine. I promise.” "Who are you?..." My voice weakly cut across, my eyes fixed on his. "Don't move," my shoulder was softly touched by his big hand. "The rogue's bite needs time to heal." "I need to know. "Who are you?" I had to ask again. This time, my voice was somewhat firmer. He maintained steady eye contact, something flashing in his eyes. "Caden Blackthorn. Alpha of the Silverpang Pack.” My heart beaten without warning. Everyone knew the name of the strong, feared Alpha who had lost his mate years before. There were famous stories told about him. "It would be better if I knew your name as well," he calmly uttered. "I'm Aria," I said with a slight blush on my weary face. "Why did you save me?" I inquired further. No one had ever stood in for me the way Caden did and that had remained a puzzle I hadn't solved yet. “I was there. "That's all," he replied. "Rest now." The days blurred together as I healed. I was still thinking about the deception during my wedding, but my heart still couldn't entertain the diverse thoughts of my odd guardian angel. *** One evening, I caught him watching me once again. It wasn't just a state; his eyes were filled with want, like he had been deprived of something. "You keep watching me," I softly muttered. "Do I?" His lips bent slightly, and my gut flipped. "Trying to figure something out? Or you are worried about..." As he approached, my wolf succumbed. "Maybe I am." "I think I should leave soon," my words seemed meaningless to me as well. "Really?" He gave out a smirk while responding. “Little wolf, don't be so dramatic. "Where would you wanna run to?” He chimed in, his blue eyes enchanted mine. "Anywhere. Everywhere. I breathed deeply. "I can't stay here forever." "We both know you don't want to leave." As he stepped closer, his smell entrapped me like an irresistible cologne. "What I want doesn't matter." "Funny," he chipped in, still maintaining his scoffing gesture, which seemed rather pretty to behold. Gently, his hands trailed towards my neck, a subtle irresistible feeling I hadn't felt before. Not even Liam’s touch had sent such powerful shivers down my spine the way his first deliberate touch did. "Sto…” I couldn't finish up with that word. As much as I can't make meaning of what was unfolding. I wouldn't risk having him stop. “Please, what are you doing to me?” I managed to spill, my breath gasping for more of his magical caressing. "Little wolf. "You aren't good at pretense. "I know you want this too," he ran his fingers over my bottom lip then suddenly, he left my presence. When my body was desperately yawning for his smells, touches, and kisses, to know what it'd feel like to have his co*k strike deep inside of me. He unexpectedly left. Why!? *** Like the strong wind outside, my heart skipped in desire. I felt his real presence behind me once again when I sat by the fire later that night. "Can't sleep?" he questioned in a low voice. "No." I turned to face him. "Can you?" His eyes drifted over me. "Not with you here." Like lightning, the tension between us sparked. Attracted to him like a magnet, I stood breathless. "Caden..." He took two steps toward me, one hand snagging my hair with his lips. Every boundary we had put up was destroyed by our soulful kisses, which were fire and desire. The last thing I pondered on was how he was twice my age. I didn't care about that at the moment. Wouldn't it be heartwarming to have an older Alpha have me? I had already started fantasizing how hard and divine his strokes would be! As he dragged me closer, my cleavage was bestowed on his embodied chest. I clutched onto his shoulders and felt the raw energy under his skin. A gasp escaped from deep in my throat as his tongue slid inside my mouth. He snarled against my lips, "We shouldn't," even as his hands moved down my hips. "I don't care." I nibbled on his lower lip. "This is what I want. An Older Alpha, exactly what I desire!” "Aria..." My name was a prayer and a curse on his lips. “I haven't been with any other woman since the tragic passing of my late wife. I… I…” I put my legs around his waist without hesitation so he'd fully focus on me and think less of his late wife, which had made him grumpy for years. He carried me easily to the bedroom. My brain spun in desire as his kisses became more powerful and demanding. We fell into the bed together, hands exploring, hearts pounding. Both his clothes and mine dropped to the floor. His toned chest made my lips go dry. He muttered, "Beautiful," and landed a kiss on my neck. "So beautiful." My skin burned with each touch. With each kiss, I felt better. It felt unbelievably sensational. I never knew Liam wasn't as good as I had praised him. Caden was certainly the best! It felt like we were meant for each other, like we had been intimate a million times before our first encounter. With his soothing lips sucking paradise into my hard rock n****e. He whispered. “Should I go on?” "Never been more sure of anything." The night was melted by desire and pleasure. His strokes were more magical than I could ever imagine. I moaned deeply with strange sweet nonsense spilling from my lips. He chimed in with a beautiful smile, knowing how good I was feeling about his thrusting game. There was no room for arguments, no need for debate! He was a god as far as stroking was involved. *** Hours later, as we lay exhausted in the covers, his fingers made designs on my nude back. "What happens now?" I asked gently. I was drawn to him. "Now, you're under my protection." "Hmm?" I signaled, my reaction etched with doubt. "Everyone needs protection sometimes, little wolf," his voice calmly crept out with a faint beam. I sat on an arm and looked at his face in the moonlight. "Even big, fearless Alphas too?" His eyes softened as he put a piece of hair behind my ear. "Especially them." The calm silence was broken by a warning and frantic wail. Caden's body tensed instantly, and his face turned to one of murder. Within a split second, he arose from his initial position. “Has something gone wrong again?” I couldn't help but inquire while closing my nude legs. "Stay here." His voice was one of alpha authority. "Caden, tell me what's happening." He halted at the entrance, power shining in his eyes. "Someone has breached our boundaries. A person with no business is here. "Let me help,” I mouthed without thinking straight– "No." He cut me off. Stay in this area. Lock the door. Just open it for me, please. However, —" "Promise me, Aria." The strength of his voice made me shiver. "I promise." He walked back to the bed two paces. "I'll be back soon." As he vanished into the darkness, my blood ran cold. His behavior was so unpredictable that I was afraid it had stuck confusion and more doubts in me. Moments after our nightstand, I noticed that Caden had been behaving differently, staring anxiously like he was unhappy and guilty. He acted colder than normal since he was still mourning his late wife. There was a lurking issue. I could feel it in my bones. Outside my window, a branch broke. Footsteps creaked on the porch. My heart stopped as a shadow passed across the glass. That's when I realized that someone other than Caden had found me. Even though I was beginning to feel a strange beautiful thing for Caden, something I had never felt for anyone before, I felt something opposing would soon surface. The real danger was just getting started, and this time, even a huge fearless Alpha may not be able to save me.
