Chapter Twenty-Four
Leila's P.O.V I couldn't quite believe what had just happened. Joseph had just killed my family. Or, Baelan had killed them. Mind control killed them. Me and Baelen had just gotten Lloyd home and said goodbye to the surviving vampires. But I was still in shock. Where would I go? “Leila, I…” Baelan looks at me, after he places Lloyd onto the sofa in their living room. I shake my head at him. He knows that I know it wasn’t his fault, but I know he blames himself. Baelan puts on his jacket and walks towards the front door. “Where are you going?” I ask him. “I just need to be alone for a bit, I’m sorry.” He responds without looking at me. More than anything, I was terrified. Joseph wanted to keep me alive for my punishment, but he gave Lloyd back? If he really wanted me to suffer then
