Rafael: "Rafael." A voice cut through the darkness. "Rafael, wake up." My body jerked in the chair. Sweat dripped down my spine, soaking the chair. My hands shook as they gripped the leather armrests. "Hey." Soft fingers touched my shoulder. I flinched away, my eyes snapping open. Fiona knelt beside the chair, wrapped in my silk sheet like a toga. Her hair was messy from sleep, but her eyes were sharp with worry. "You were having a nightmare." She reached for me again. "You kept saying 'no' and 'please stop.'" "I'm fine." My voice came out rough, like I'd been screaming. "Bullshit." She pressed her palm against my forehead. "You're burning up and shaking like a leaf. What were you dreaming about?" I tried to push the images away. My biological father's fist. My mother's split lip.
