Boxed In

222 Words
I'm stuck in this box, day and night A metal container, my constant sight No windows to gaze, no doors to roam Just me, my gear, and this endless home The rotation's long, the days blend and fade I lose all sense of time, in this metal shade I'm a soldier, a warrior, a defender of the land But in this box, I'm just a prisoner, with no command The sounds are the same, the smells, the feel A never-ending cycle, with no chance to reveal The world outside is vast, with wonders to behold But in this box, my world is small, and growing old I dream of freedom, of open spaces wide Of feeling the sun's warmth, and the wind at my side But for now, I'm stuck, in this metal box I reside A soldier on rotation, with no place to hide The days tick by slowly, the hours crawl and creep I'm trapped in this box, with no chance to sleep But still I hold on, to my duty and my pride A soldier on rotation, until my time inside Is done, and I'm released, back to the world outside Where freedom waits, and adventure will reside But until that day, I'll stay, in this box I'm confined A soldier on rotation, serving my country's call, in mind.
