Unforgettable Beginnings

A beam of sunlight cut through the curtains and warmed her face, pulling Sharon out of her restless sleep. She detected something hard and warm beneath her as she squinted her eyes and turned to lie on her back. While she looked at the shape of a guy sprawled next to her, the covers barely covering his bare chest, her breath caught in her throat and her heart hammered rapidly. She turned around to look behind her, then discovered she was wearing nothing on her and hurriedly got out of bed. ‘What the hell happened?’ Sharon asked in wonder. She stumbled backward, clutching the sheet tightly around her as her wide eyes darted to the mirror. The reflection staring back at her made her stomach churn—bare skin, tousled curls, and no memory of how she had ended up like this. Sharon tried to get her thoughts back to what had happened the previous night, but all she could remember was her going after the men that almost killed her and how she had a drink at the bar. Nothing else came to mind. Her arms instinctively crossed over her chest as her mind raced, desperate for answers. ‘Who is this man? How did I get here?’ Her eyes went to the stream of blood on the bedsheet, some of which were on her thighs. Seeing this, she screamed. A shriek tore from her throat. She had lost her virginity, but she wasn't able to recall the event. Sharon had hoped for an unforgettable moment but now was unable to recall the details or the sensation. Just as you would imagine, Sharon remained restless, still trying to remember details of what had happened the night before today, but to her least expectation, all she could think about was a man, the one from the pub who offered her a drink. Unusually for how the billionaire's son gets up from bed, Raymond jerked awake, his heart beating hard against his chest as he was dragged up by her screams that echoed in his ears. Looking more tense than Sharon was, he glanced around the room, in an attempt to make sense of the chaos that was going on. Raymond pushed off the blankets in a frantic rush and staggered to his feet, his eyes bulging with fear. He moved clumsily to the side of the bed, trying to put the situation into perspective. His breathing came in short gasps due to the unexpected rush of adrenaline while he looked at Sharon's agitated expression and the unsettling image on the bed. ‘What the hell is wrong with you? Do you have to scream like that?’ Raymond snapped, running a hand through his disheveled hair. Without getting a response, he tried to recall what he did to give him such a terrible headache, but he could not remember what happened last night. Raymond realized he was nude, he grinned self-assuredly, stood up, and reached for a crumpled sheet nearby. Wrapping it around his waist with a smooth wrap. Her gaze flickered between the rumpled sheets and the sharp lines of his broad shoulders, an unspoken tension rising in the room. His commanding presence only made her unease grow. She felt startled and confused, but she also found herself drawn to his confident and commanding personality. ‘Who are you?’ Sharon managed to ask. ‘I could ask you the same, but don’t bother—I’ll figure it out myself,’ he muttered, disappearing into the bathroom without another glance. ‘Get dressed and be ready to leave by the time I'm out.’ As she hastily searched the room, she discovered the ripped remnants of her clothing on the floor, crumpled in a heap. Anger boiled to the surface and her chest tightened. With an exasperated sigh, she yelled, ‘How do I get ready when my dress is a mess?!’ and pointed to the restroom. All she could do was use it to cover her front view. The bathroom door creaked open, and Raymond emerged, droplets of water glistening on his skin as a shrill ringtone cut through the tense silence. He looked around the room following the sound of the ringtone and finally found it on the floor beside the bed. He walked towards the bedside, carried his phone, and answered it. It was a call from the office. ‘Speak!’ Raymond said. ‘Hello sir, there is a meeting scheduled for today at 3:00pm. Please, I'd like to confirm your attendance.’ ‘Possibly,’ and hung up the call. Raymond knew he needed to be there. He was not the type to joke about his work. ‘What is that?’ Raymond asked, knowing exactly that it was blood. He advanced towards her and pointed at the bedsheets. ‘No way,’ Raymond muttered under his breath, running a hand through his damp hair. ‘Please, I better not be her first.’ ‘Damn it!’ Raymond exclaimed, knowing fully well that if he's her first then he needs to take responsibility. ‘Tell me your name,’ Raymond commanded, as he turned to face Sharon. ‘Did you not hear me?’ Raymond burst on Sharon, which made her shaky and frightened. ‘It’s... Sharon,’ she said softly, her voice trembling as tears welled up in her eyes. ‘Sharon who?’ ‘I don't know,’ Sharon said with tears streaming down her cheeks. Sharon’s voice broke as she looked away. ‘I... I don’t know,’ she whispered. The weight of the truth settled in her chest, heavy and familiar—her mother had never spoken of him. Something she had always wanted to know but never found out. Raymond looked at her puzzled by what she just said, but that was the truth. Sharon never knew her father. Having a feeling of conviction he let her be. He picked up his phone and made a call. ‘Bring me female clothes immediately, size 7 to 9,’ Raymond commanded and disconnected the call. Sharon stared at him, wondering how he had come up with the sizes. Raymond had returned to the bathroom, leaving Sharon in the bedroom to herself. She looked at him as he walked back into the bathroom, wondering to herself ‘What manner of man is he.’ She shifted her dress to cover her side, making sure Raymond had no sight of her body. A sharp knock at the door made her heart leap. She froze, clutching the dress tightly around her body as her mind raced. ‘Who could that be?’ not certain if she should get the knock on the door or stay put. However, Billionaire's Son Raymond walked out of the bathroom on his broad shoulders. ‘I could hear the knock from the bathroom, I wonder if you did?’ he asked angrily. As he got to the door and opened it, he collected the dress bags from the young woman who was dressed in uniform. He said nothing to her and shut the door. Raymond moved two steps and tossed the bag to Sharon. Then he said, ‘Get Dressed,’ and he moved to the closet, removing what had been prepared for him for the day, and then he entered the restroom. Out of three dresses, Sharon chose an oxblood gown. Although she found her shoes on, she couldn't put on her underwear. Raymond walked out of the bathroom in a dark brown suit while Sharon moved hurriedly to the door and pushed it open. They both went out and the door closed behind him. As they got out of the building, Sharon saw the Lamborghini Murcielago that almost knocked her down. ‘It was you, after all.’ ‘Get in the car,’ Raymond commanded, not understanding what she said while his door was being opened by one of the guards. As he got into the car, two men walked towards Sharon and dragged her. ‘Let me go,’ she yelled while she was forced into the car. ‘Where is your destination?’ Raymond asked. Sharon gave Raymond a contemptuous stare without saying anything. He looked towards the driver's seat and commanded, ‘Stop here.’ The driver pulled over at once, making the car tires screech. ‘Leave no…w.' Just before he could finish what he was saying, the door opened and Sharon made her way out of the car ‘Thank you,’ she managed to say and shut the door behind her. The car then shot off with a roar, creating a trail of noise. Sharon looked on with frustration as they drove away. Frustration and hopelessness whirled inside her as she remained still, and her fists clenched at her sides. She was alone and shaking until the car vanished down the street.
