Madeline's head shot up in surprise, her smile brimming with excitement. "So, is that a yes?"
She was genuinely taken aback. Jeremy had been wearing a stern expression since they got into the car. She hadn't expected him to agree.
"If I didn't agree, would you go home with me?" Jeremy replied, pushing open the car door and retrieving two umbrellas from the trunk.
He opened one umbrella and handed the other to Madeline. "Go ahead, I'll wait here for you."
"Thank you!" Madeline expressed her gratitude sincerely.
Osborn had saved her several times, and she couldn't bear to leave without properly bidding farewell to him.
Due to the heavy rain and the oversized coat borrowed from Jeremy, Madeline's progress with the umbrella was slow and unsteady, swaying from side to side in the wind.
