Dani The scent of disinfectant invaded my nostrils, followed by the sound of stifled sobs. I struggled to open my eyes, feeling a sharp pain that shot through my skull. I tried again, this time more slowly and deliberately, my vision blurry, making me bat my eyelids, trying to accommodate the light that shot through my eyes from the large fluorescent lights that hung above my head. “Where am I?” I asked, my voice low and weak. “Dani?
