CHAPTER 12

1281 Words

CHAPTER 12 Benny walked to work the next morning, collected his bike and on the way home called into Olivia's house, letting himself in with his key as usual. He was on a mission—to find evidence of Lucas's address. All he knew of Lucas was his name and that he was a project manager. He went straight into the study and systematically went through the papers on the desk and in the drawers. Nothing with Lucas’s name on it. He rifled through the wastepaper basket. Junk mail, tissues and an apple core. And a crumpled envelope. It was empty, addressed to Mr and Mrs L Bartlett 125 Greygum Ave Newtown. It was funny to think of Olivia as Mrs L Bartlett; it made her sound like an old, married lady. She was no longer at that address, but maybe Lucas was. Benny shoved the envelope in his pocket.
