My mother shut her eyes in embarrassment. She couldn't contain the shame. First the disastrous dinner, and now this?
I contemplated slapping Narah, but as I approached her, something made me stop in my tracks. Her piercing blue eyes, now ablaze with an intense fire, met mine. The authority in her gaze made me pause.
Hanadin's chuckle in the background only added to my growing frustration. At that moment, I regretted ever bringing Narah into this house.
My initial curiosity about the wolf I sensed in her, and the eerie connection I felt, seemed insignificant now. I wanted nothing more than for her to leave—immediately.
