Gaming with reality

CHAPTER ONE: THE GLITCH

Titan appears in a place holding a long katana and sighs. he swings it and it cuts a year in the universe where he walks through with a bored expression. Then the screen goes black and Dylan appears seated in front of his computers with an exhausted look on. "At least I found the planet of falling stars, now I can win the last achievement," said Dylan as he slowly drifted to sleep

This was when his door flew open and Samantha was standing there fully dressed in her uniform with her arms akimbo." Dylan, get up!" she shouted

"What is it Samantha? I was just about to go to sleep. What are u doing up so early in the morning?" Dylan said

Samantha had a puzzled look on her face. "It's seven O'clock in the morning you lazy bum!" said Samantha.

"Stop shouting, and also stop lying. Last I checked my watch it was one O'clock and now it says," said Dylan as he slowly checked his watch," what the, it really is seven O'clock."

Samantha walked across the room and opened his curtains to let in the sunrise nearly blinding Dylan with the rush of light." Samantha argh, is that necessary?" asked Dylan

"Yes, now get up and take a bath or we're going to be late," ordered Samantha.

"Why? I have no plans today," said Dylan

"Don't tell me you didn't read the letter I brought you from school," said Samantha holding up a fist

"Okay, I won't tell you. I'll show you," said Dylan holding up a sealed letter and chuckling.

Samantha could no longer resist and punched Dylan on his head knocking him off his seat. "Can you take this seriously," said Samantha

Dylan gave a sigh and got up. He unsealed the letter and began reading it.

Dear parent/guardian. Nov 20,2099

Your young lady is to report to the school on Dec 06,2099 with you in tow. This is to talk about your young lady's future in academics. You are required to be present or she will not graduate. I hope you heed the message on this letter and be present on that day.

Dylan finished reading and went to the bathroom. He took a shower begrudgingly as Samantha picked out his outfit. She then sat at Dylan's gaming chair and began playing. Dylan finished and brushed his teeth, applied lotion and hair gel before walking out of his bathroom. He spotted his sister playing the game with her favorite avatar, a barbarian princess, and she was fighting ghost pirates on a pirate ship. She was struggling. Dylan started to dress himself when Samantha spoke through the virtual reality glasses. This was a skill these two siblings use which was perceived to be impossible with the current V.R technology but for them was practically normal. "Hey, Dylan, I can't find a way to get to the Captain's ship," said Samantha.

"Climb the Crows nest and ride the water torrent above you to the captain and make sure to splash them with the water, should make it easier to win," said Dylan.

She thanked him for it and began her assault. her avatar climbed the Crows nest and stood at the top. A moving water torrent, that looked like a winding snake, appeared above her and she jumped in. The torrent carried her at top speed towards the enemy ship as she spun in the torrent forming a tidal wave behind her. She jumped out of the torrent and landed on the ghost pirate ship with a wave of water. Most of the pirates evaporated to dust as the others were seriously damaged. She brandished her axes and slaughtered the remaining pirates leaving only the captain. The captain appeared and he was like an undead nightmare. He was glowing blue and whipped out a saber. She attacked off the bat and was easily sliced up. The captain was too fast for her tank to keep up with leading to her death. The game screen went 'GAME OVER' and she removed the headgear." How am I supposed to beat a boss who is so fast?" said Samantha when she noticed Dylan in the outfit she chose for him.

He was dressed in a black dress shirt and a pair of black jeans topped with black Air maxes. She gave a nod and said, " At least one good thing came out of this."

" Let's go already," said Dylan grabbing his car keys

"Aren't you going to have breakfast?' asked Samantha.

"Nah, I'll order a coffee on the way," Dylan said

The two left the house and it went into instant lockdown. almost immediately, Dylan's computers came on to reveal a phantom-like black creature which spoke to say, " He's not here, I must find him."

The two got in a cyber truck and it came on. The A.I came on and greeted them. "Good morning Samson, Take us to ORION GIRL'S HIGH SCHOOL and get me a coffee to be delivered there," Dylan said.

The car got out of the driveway and moved out. It was a relaxing trip but Dylan had a sullen look to him and Samantha could tell. She wanted to ask about it but refrained telling herself it was probably nothing serious. She herself was thinking up a storm for a good excuse to use during the meeting they will have with the principal.
